first, you have to buy into timeshares then, if you own one you can only use it for a designated time during the year...you can rent it out and make money, but if you dont live there you still have to pay a high maintenance fee yearly....stay away from timeshares and just plan a normal vacation somewhere........ good luck....

If you are thinking of buying one, forget it! They are overmarketed, and have negative results. If you try and use the timeshare in a popular spot at certain times of the year, you won't be able to get it!
You won't be happy with it, and it is hard to sell (if you can ever).
My experience was witha timeshare that was sold to me near Disneyland. I was excited, but found that I could net get the useage at any time I wanted or for that matter, any other share in the U.S.
I finally just gave up on it. I stopped the mortgage on it, stopped paying on it and was threatened by the timeshare company with a lawsuit. I simply told them, take it back. I am not paying for it! They did, becasue they were illegally trying to add in a 'points system'.
Good luck.
Better to spend your money on a regular vacation when you want it, not when the timeshare is available.

Well let's see - you pay an astonishing amount of money to "own" a piece of property for about two weeks of the year!
The only people who benefit from this idea are the people who are selling it to you! So you may "own" some condo but if there are 52 weeks a year and you get your condo for 2 weeks a year that means 25 other people "own" the same condo that you own and you are all going to want the condo the same two weeks every year! So more often than not - the weeks it will be available to you, will be when you cannot go there!
Save your money and stay at a resort!

You often find your access is severely restricted - you can't get the weeks you'd like to use the place and the costs can be quite high making it much more expensive than a hotel. This is not always the case, but it can be something of a financial trap. They can be difficult to unload once you've bought in.
