A 'closet drunk' is an alcoholic who 'hides' the fact that s/he drinks from others in order to 'hide' the fact s/he is an alcoholic.

It's not just a person who doesn't admit they're an alcoholic - it's a person that drinks in secret or alone. Someone that's getting drunk when no one else knows about it. They won't get drunk at a bar or at a party, they'll wait till nobody knows then get drunk. Scary....

a closet drunk is some one who has to drink a alcholic drink every day and hides it from every one they do it behind every ones back so people dont think bad of them my mother is a closet drinker and my brother is a closet user{drugs}

Just like a closet eater- ashamed at what they drink/eat since it's normally a large consumption.

I hav been one for about 2 years, but i went cold turkey on Ash Wednesday. I feel great. Just need to dry out for 40 days, and then moderate afterwards.
I was sitting at hom just watching TV $hitfaced nearly every night.
Not healthy, and very expensive.

It is someone who hides their drinking. They try not to let others know they drink or at least how much they are drinking.
