Did you watch Children of Men?

It would probably be a lot like that. People killing each other for no reason other than sheer hopelessness.

A few people still trying to live normal lives.... (they would be mostly atheists)

It would be sad.

If I found out that God never existed, my heart would be broken for a short time. I would want an answer from the Church as to where they got all this information and if they even knew that God didn't exist, why did they keep it a secret for thousands of years. I wouldn't throw my BIble out. I don't know if I would continue to read it from time to time. I would probably continue to pray just incase they are wrong and GOd did exist. People have always proven things and later have been proven wrong.

I wouldn't be angry at others, I wouldn't kill or steal. I know what is right and wrong. Even atheists know what morals and values are. So I don't see that changing. Of course, there probably would be some Christians that loose it and go 'postal'. There are extremists in all areas. But in a whole, I don't see all the Christians going insane. Through the faith that we had when we believed that God existed, we learned great life lessons and would still live with those lessons without God around. I see churches slowing disappearing or maybe some would stay because others would think like me, 'just in case they are wrong, we still should pray and have mass and have faith.'

Some day we will all know what is what. And we will either be decaying bones in the ground or in Heaven or hell.

First of all, you're a moron. You can't lump people together as a whole when every one of them is an individual. I am an atheist, and I don't break the law. I don't rape, murder, steal hate or any of that. I think you are an ignorant fool who needs to read up on their religious studies. Just because you're not religous does not mean you have no morals. I have very high morals because I practice being a good person. And going to church does not make a person better than the next. And just so you know, God will never be proved or disproved because its not possible. It's all about belief and what we think is plausible and what isn't. I myself find it hard to believe that there is a place in the clouds with streets of gold that everyone who is good can go as long as they believe...and its also just as ridiculous that a person who doesn't but is still a good person should go to this supposed Hell where their soul is tortured for all eternity. Did you know that by Christian belief, Mother Theresa who was NOT a born again Christian would not be permitted in the gates of heaven? Mother THeresa!!! And that, my dumb, ignorant friend, is why atheists believe what we believe. But we are good people, all the same. Go work your infantile mind around something else....perhaps how many licks it takes to get to the center of a tootsie pop?

I am a Christian, and in some ways, yes, my life style would change. Their would be no reason for my existence. God made me and I exist and live my life for Him. So, if there was no him and I just "happen" to come into this world from a random freak accident of evolution, than what is the point? What would be the point of trying to live a good life? or being nice to people? or anything at all for that matter... If we all just came about by means of evolution, than who has a "soul"? and if noone does have a soul, than I will repeat the question "What is the point of it all?"...
So, I answer your question with a few questions of my own.
Christians dont claim, by the way, that atheists go around ruining the world and everyone in it. The group, as a whole, just simply does not believe that. It is individual christians that hold radical and unkind beliefs and stigma's. So, dont blame the whole religion. Just like their are some atheists that are terrible people, there are also some christians that are terrible people. Bad people come in all shapes sizes and religions. That is the way of it.
There IS though, a higher chance of loosing all sense of right and wrong, morality, and/or clarity of thought/emotion with the loss of a belief in a "higher" being in charge of it all. That is the human condition. That is the beautiful part of a soul that God gave everyone to be able to know deep down that He does exist and is talking to you - that there IS a reason for your existence.
Nice hypothetical question.

Oh man- your question threw me off hugely when I first read it. I thought you were saying that atheists go around and pillage and rape ands steal! After realizing that you were making a generalization (albeit valid question) about Christians, I realized what you meant. My understanding is that you're using rhetoric to tell Christians that just because you don't believe in their god doesn't mean that you don't have morals. I completely agree. I'm neither here nor there in terms of believing in a god (I refuse to commit to any one ideology) but I think it's fair. It IS generally believed that atheists don't give a crap about anything and thus they do whatever they want. Well, I'll tell you, I'm an 18 year old male who doesn't smoke, drink, gamble, treat girls with anything other than the utmost respect, and I also have nearly 0% spirituality. I often lean towards different sets of philosophy like existentialism (and nihilism when I'm in a bad mood) but that doesn't stop me from recognizing these vices and making my decisions accordingly.
Sorry if that was a bit convoluted. If anyone feels the need to pique my mind, send me an email. I'd be happy to explain it in a clearer way.

Let me say first of all that morality has nothing to do with Christianity. There are many good moral people in this world who are not Christians. Being good will not get you into heaven, Eph. 2:8-9.
Secondly before I became a christian I had these desires and fulfilled many of them. When I came to Christ he changed my desires, my want to,s. Sometimes sin is there but I don't like it or desire to do it.
Thirdly I live the life I live because I have no other choice. Its the love of Christ that compels me.
Fourth, How can God be proven false when he has never been proven to be true?
Only the heart of man can prove the reality of a righteous God.

Since when did atheists go around raping, pillaging, murdering, stealing, hating and creating chaos? Have I been living in a bubble Chippy...or are you just being sarcastic? I'm not an atheist, but i'm pretty sure they don't do all that stuff. No more than religious people do...in the name of God, at least.

I think that if god was proven false then everything around us would change. So many people base their life and all their decisions off of what god would want them to do. I defentally think if this was proven to not be true, then there would be more crime. As much as i dont believe in god or any of the christian beliefs, i think it helps a little becasue christians feel guilty if they do a "sin" and then they give back by doing somthing good. So it does help sometimes, but yeah. and i dont konw what empathy is.

To Christians you would never be able to prove that their god doesn't exist. It would never happen because no matter what proof you came up with they would just deny it anyway. (i'm not saying that this is a bad thing)

So they probably wouldn't lose their sense of morality as god would never be proven false to them.

I would like to see some real study done though as to what religions the people in prison are. My hubby is a CO in a prison, and just at this prison (there is actually a census there) only 5% of the inmates are Atheist. The other 95% have some form of religions affiliation. Most of them Christian. I would like to see that one explained by a Christian.

Okay, well.... I have never said that atheists go around murdering and raping people. Actually..I don't know any Christians...true Christians...who have. So maybe before you ask a question, you should pick one that you don't already know that answer to. Trying to prove a point about Christians? You chose the wrong Christian to insult. And this is insulting that someone would think all Christians are like that. Now I think all idiots are like you.

I was raised with good values of right or wrong, and whether or not I was raised in a Christian home would have no bearing on how I behaved, since I was raised with solid values.

Now as to whether or not God would be proven to be false, that is a moot point because it simply would NEVER happen. I challenge anyone to try. It simply can't be done.

As to your last question of "have you ever heard of empathy?", please don't make generalizations about Christians not having empathy. That is one of the things that people say most about me - that I am extremely empathetic towards others. I think most Christians would consider themselves empathetic to some degree as well. I myself am not only empathetic, but highly compassionate as well. Not to boast - just setting things straight since your last question was not based upon accurate knowledge of Christians in general. Sorry if that offends - just telling how it is.
