I have been taking it for three months now. After about three weeks I started to feel good, but now, I am starting to feel tired again and I am starting to feel depressed. I did not have depression before. Could this be caused by the medication?

I've taken thyroxine in the past, for a month - by mistake.
Here's how my doctor explained it to me.
Synthroid is regulated - it's been around forever. Thyroxine and other hypothyroidism drugs are generics. Generics - in the case of treating hypothyroidism are not consistent in their dosage from pill to pill. They are consistent as a batch, but not from pill to pill. And because they aren't consistent, sometimes you get more sometimes less from day to day, but overall it's suppose to even out. With Synthroid you get the same dosage from pill to pill so there isn't any "leveling out" over the month.
During the time I was taking it I too noticed that my energy level went down and some of my symptoms (like hair loss) that were improving were coming back again. And due to my lack of energy I begain to get a little depressed. At the end of the month I asked my doctor to send the pharmacist a note saying that it needed to be brand specific and not generic. (he had written the Rx for Synthroid, but the generic was cheaper so my insurance required the least expensive) Once I got back on Synthroid within 2 - 3 days things improved and were back to "normal" by the end of the week.

So, yes, it can be caused by a change in meds. Ask your doctor to request brand specific Synthroid.

It could be a number of things- diet, hormone imbalance, too much sugar + sugar sensitivity, low endorphons, low serotonin levels, not enough sleep, adrenal problems, low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). I think I'd first look into a change of diet, and possibly adrenal fatigue issues.

Meanwhile, I'd probably incorporate some endorphin boosters to help with the depression
