calcium building, what causes it and is there a cure? I can't lift my arm above my face. Serious replies only. Thanks.

You have a Supraspinatus tendinitis. It is a chronic inflammation of a rotator cuff muscle of the shoulder joint called the Supraspinatus .

When it gets inflamed one develops a 'Frozen shoulder" and the inflammation encourages the deposition of calcium in it. This can be seen in a shoulder x-ray.

The first line of treatment is 1.analgesics 2. passive and active physiotherapy 3. ultrasound or infrared heat to the area.

In intractable cases one may need steroid infiltration and/or manipulation under anaesthesia.
