I agree with the answer from Moofies Mum. BUT. Do your homework, get the kids involved with the researchs as well.Look at as many websites/ info sources as possible. It is not all surf and sand -it can be wet and windy. For work -If you have reasonable IT skills that is a real bonus as there are many opportunities in almost any business, and although housing is very expensive, if you have the ambition and passion you will overcome the hurdles to live and bring up your childen in a really beautiful part of the UK.

One thing more -if you think you can integrate into a local community -go for it- or forget it altogether.

While Cornwall is a beautiful part of the country, it is also the POOREST County - wages are well BELOW the National Average, as a large proportion of the jobs are dependant on tourism. A lot of people have bought 2nd or 3rd homes in the County, therefore depriving people who have been brought up in the county any chance of getting on the property ladder if they want to stay close to their family and friends. I live in the Bristol Area (which is not far from Cornwall), and the STARTING price for a basic two bedroomed house near my parents is close to £300,000 (and that is BEFORE you add on any renovation costs and Council Tax - you get VERY little for that, all we get is the rubbish collected once a week for £100 a MONTH).

Move to Devon or Dorset.

I grew up in Cornwall, but left 30 years ago. Sad to say, these days it's going downhill fast. The main problem is that it is now too accessible.

I wish I could join you. Close family in Newquay, I was there at the weekend. Be aware that jobs especially part time jobs are very hard to come by. Also that affordable rented accommodation is again very difficult to find and they are very strict about people camping or sleeping in cars. However if you get there I'm quite sure you won't want to come back. One day it will be me.

It is a lovely place, the only problem is the Cornish people. They hate everyone else like poison. They will smile to you when on holiday down there as they want your money, but behind your back they will sneer at "Emmits" and "Grockles"
If you do move there they will be as nice as pie for 6 months, but will ignore you completely for the next 20 years. You could be very lonely.
