Specifically in the time of Jesus it was to show the things to come. Revelation 21:4 " And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outrcy nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." When Jesus healed lepers and those who were sick it was an example of what how sickness would be done away with in the paradise on earth. When he resurrected those who were dead it was to give evidence of the upcoming resurrection.

If the people believe in the Lord , he might heal them so they can begin or continue in his work ( spreading the Gospel ) Also they can be a testimony for what God can do for you when you believe.

God does not want ANYONE of us to suffer and even though we do live in a fallen word, HEALING is part of the atonement.
Before Y'shua - Jesus - went to the cross, he suffered a severe whipping/lashing on His back that took out pieces of flesh with every lash of what was called the cat of nine tails....
In Isaiah 53 it is written....
"But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquity,
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him
and by His stripes, we are healed."
verse 5.
Ps.103:.....
"Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits,
Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases."
verses 2 and 3.
GOD IS LOVE and to all Who come to Him through His Son, He is our Father.....so what kind of parent takes delight in or ignores the suffering of his very own child.......and for those who are not yet His children, He is merciful and gracious, and most import-antly, He does not want ANYONE to perish in a hopeless eternity.
Without Jesus there would be absolutely NO hope for humanity, but there is HOPE and God is a good God, regardless of anyone trying to tell you differently!!!!
He loves you and He wants you well. SATAN is the one who wants to STEAL AND KILL AND DESTROY your life and then take you straight to hell - if you're not saved when you die - for
all eternity.
Satan is REAL -- and he HATES you and all of man-kind and all he wants is to destroy and kill you so he can hurt God
because even satan knows that God is real and that He does love
humanity -- even when that love is not returned --
You (whoever) can receive healing for your body just as you receive salvation for your spirit and soul.

I can think of 3 reasons:
1) They haven't finished their work yet.
2) Testimony.
3) Who wants to live w/ pain? You should be glad God heals.

I know He healed the pain in my knees but I couldn't tell you why other than He loves me and I was healed.
