you walk along the side walk and there's a big gap between you and the shops.and yet othe people try to walk through you..or they are just in front of you you try to pass them and they imediately step the way you are going to pass them ..or they meet some-one coming the other way that they know..stop and chat just where there is no room either side of them to pass .so you say excuse me to pass and they look at you as if you have no right to be there..I feel sometimes like getting a big dog that looks fierce to clear the way..(and before any-one says lighten up.I AM LIGHTENED UP)

I have not only noticed this, but I have experienced walking along a sidewalk, and when a man approaches from the other direction, and someone has to move slightly so that we can both pass, he remains put while I always have to move. If I don't do that, we will run into each other. This is not meant to attack men - it's just an observation about what I have experienced. I don't know why when two people are passing each other from opposite directions, why can't they both be considerate enough to move out of each other's way? I agree with your question though, and I have seen the same thing. I think people are just ruder and more inconsiderate these days.

And here I thought it was just me. It happens at the grocery store, the farmer's market, anywhere there is limited space. Someone always seems to have to stop right in front of me and talk to someone, leaving me no space to walk around. At a local bar I go to, I could be the only person sitting there, with a load of space for anyone and everyone to come up and order a drink, and someone will almost certainly come stand right next to me and talk to a friend behind me who cannot seem to help but lean on my chair and shove it around. Maybe there's some kind of magnet thing goin' on here.

I agree completely. People are either ignorant or rude, or both. THe dog idea is a good one but I was thinking more like a herding type dog. A few nips at the ankles and these rude, self absorbed louts will move. Maybe even a cattle prod.

I have at times noticed this behavior in humans. It seems to be directed toward me when I'm not confident with my stride and stance. Stand up tall, smile and greet the world. There are going to be mean people everywhere but confidence seems to be a deterrent. Excuse yourself with a smile. You have the right to exist.

Take care,
Jen

I guess I've never noticed. I'm very considerate to others and don't let little things bother me. So, either I always move without thinking or I just don't care about something as silly as taking an extra step to the side.

Lighten Up.

And it only gets worse in all the stores when it comes to Christmas-shopping time ... "rude" is an absolute understatement!

YES! That happens to me alot, too. It's like "DO you SEE me here?" Some people are just ignorant to the rights of others.
