How come when people make fun of these groups, the media has a frenzy, activists are on Larry King Live...but... when people rip on Christians nobody gives a crap. Is hating Christian people now socially preferred?

I'm really surprised at some of the answer's I read here. Christian's have been persecuted for thousands of year's...fed to lion's , burned, hunted, crucified, enslaved, ...Etc.... please read up a little about a subject before making an ignorant statement....no one should be treated badly, and no one should be forced to make a choice because someone else thinks it's right. I am a Christian and I firmly believe that God gave us free will so we could choose our own path...Not so we could use it as a weapon on each other. I don't have to like what someone else believes to respect their right to believe it.

Unlike Christians, Jews would prefer everybody else keep their noses out of their religion. Minorities and gays have suffered so much ripping (no doubt some of it at the hands of good Christians) that it is high time minorities, including the gay minority, are given a break. In fact, laws had to be enacted to see that through.

In contrast, most Christians are part of a group that has had all the worldly entitlements, and power, to date. I find it comforting to note that the call to arms by Sam Harris is being heard. Mr. Harris opines that even moderate Christians cause more harm to this world than people think. I will not list the various harms, but I do recommend his book, "The End of Faith" for a very intelligent explanation of why everyone "ought" to rip on Christians. It is time to speak the truth, the hour is indeed getting late. For too long Christians have insisted that they know the "truth" when in fact it is absurd and arrogant to even make such a claim about things unknown and unprovable.

'cause all of our media is controlled by these groups and you are exposed to the news in dramatic ways.all the major jesus denying films have both jewish producers and actors (the davinchi code, etc...) or else jewish financial backers, and as soon as you say so, they brand you anti-semitic.The jewish doctrine in this country runs on two principles.one is that the public must think that judaism and christianism are completely and historically linked (Saving Private Ryan,..etc) so that in the eyes of christians ,defending jews is like defending christianism, and second is that when all is said and done judaism is superior. in my opinion nothing is farther from the truth.why? because christianism is in complete contrast to jewish beliefs, where the jews have "an eye for an eye" and the christians have "slap the other cheek".Jewish & christian thoughts contrast in every aspect. Judaism has no room for forgiveness, whereas christianism is based on forgiveness and Love. As a matter of fact Judaism is much much closer in thought and principle to Islam, than it is to christianism. As a matter of fact Islam and Judaism both arise from Abrahams sons, so these two religions are actually relatives.Hope this helps you understand the reason behind the onslaught on christianism. But never worry. As Christ says Love is the key

Because some people like minorities, gays, and Jews but NOBODY likes white Christians. Makes them an easy target.

You notice this b/c your a christian, by the way most of the stations are mostly christian channels. Just b/c they aren't preaching doesn't mean that most of the people who work there aren't christian. Like BET is a black station b/c most of the people who work there are black. Radical Christians tend to get stirred up and make a lot of crazy racket when they are protesting something. Jews really don't protest that much. Its kind of hard to think that the stuff that blacks are protesting is so outrageous(you probably won't agree w/ that). Gays are treated as second class citizens(you definitely won't agree w/ that), and don't have as many rights as you.

So stop bitching.

First, there's a difference between making fun of people and criticizing their beliefs and actions. Second, there is a clear difference between making fun of majority dominant culture and making fun of minorities and the underprivileged. One is a measure of resistance against the dominant hegemony, the other is a reinforcement of the dominant group's power.

BTW, any particular example you were thinking of? Discussing things like this out of context is very difficult. Post a new question with one or more specific things that concern you...

Being bigoted or prejudicial is never OK, no matter which group the hater selects.

You know, people can always "love the sinner, hate the sin;" in other words, love the strident tiny minority of "christians" who preach hatred, bigotry and therefore violence against LGBT people, but then I would be as hypocritical as they are. What a load of malarkey that phrase is!

Because its the Christians that are the one making fun of the minorities, gays and Jews. Christians are the biggest hypocrites so they get a ripping back on them.

I think it's because they are still considered "outsiders" either by the community or by themselves. Anytime an outsider is criticized or made fun of it always draws more attention.

I was picked on horribly as a kid for being too short, too skinny, having too many freckles, and nobody ever did a thing, but as soon as somebody said something about the little boy in our class not being able to participate in the Christmas concert because he was Jewish everyone got their panties in a wod.

Why not? they hate everyone else. And since the beginning of the established church (circa 300 CE) Christians have persecuted minorities and still would if they could get away with it. For example, do you think Gay people should be allowed to marry? If not, why not? If yes, what Christian church are you a member of?
