First of all, I AM NOT A BREEDER so please keep your "if your not a breeder then.." comments to yourself I didnt ask if I should fix my dog I asked why my dog's eye is crusty. My dog had puppies because she went into heat and my male dog jumped her....thank you all for the USEFUL comments and his eye opened just fine....I think that its great that you have your OPINION about breeding but please keep it to yourself because your answer does not pertain to the question I asked! THANKS!

Boil a cup of water. Add a teaspoon of salt..Dip a ball of cotton, or a very clean cloth in the mild salt water, while it is warm, and gently wash the puppy's eye..
when you get it all clean, it may open soon..If it doesn't open by tomorrow, after doing this several times today, then call your vet for an appointment.
Don't wash any other eye with the same cloth, as, if it is an infection, rather than just a scratched or irritated eye, it could spread to the other eye..

Use some cooled boiled water & some cotton wool & wet the puppies eye to give it a good soak. Then gently keep wiping it with wet cotton wool until the crust is removed & the eye opens. It is quiet common for puppies eyes to do this when they first open. Bathe it a few times tomorrow too.

Sometimes they do crust over so using a damp cotton wool ball gently cleanse the eye. Repeat 3 or 4 times and his eyes should open. If the crustyness continues take him to a vet.

It probably has an infection. I would take a warm cloth and put it over it's eye to remove the crust. Don't try to pry its eye open. Keep doing this and see how it goes. If there is no improvement in a couple of days, then take it for help.

There are many things that could have happened. He could have accidentally scratched his eye, might have an infection, there could be something wrong with the eye. Try using a warm damp wash cloth to clean away the gunk. If after a few days it hasn't cleaned up I would say take him into the vet.

First i would try easily cleaning the eye this way. With a wad of dotton, wet it with just warm water and softly dab it over the eye to wash it. maybe its just stuck with just born fluid. Do this every one or two hours - just a very little couple of dabs with the warm water. If its not cleared up in a few days, time for the vet to get a call from you.....good luck for your doggie. bettyk

I really loved your detail comments. I can't stand when people go off on spout about 'if your not a breeder'. I hope your puppy's eye is doing just fine.

Sounds like an infection. I would call a vet and see if you need to bring it in, or if ther eis a vet that could make a house call (less tramatizing on pup and mom)

Possibly infection. See the vet. Could lead to long-term complications like PPM (persistent pupilary membrane).

Take the pup to the vet. The infection can make him lose his eye.
