I heard that decaf black and green tea still have large amounts of caffeine in it. I also heard that formaldehyde is used to decaffeinate teas. Is this stuff true?

Decaf tea has a lot less caffeine -- enough so that it doesn't bother most (not all) people. Information on the amount of caffeine can be found here: http://www.stashtea.com/caffeine.htm

The main decafination methods are Methylene chloride processing, Ethyl acetate processing, Carbon dioxide processing, and Water processing. Mostly, they involve chemicals I wouldn't eat straight.

Does Decaf Tea Have Caffeine

Decaffeinated teas do have some levels of caffeine in them. Here are some statistics on the web:

The first word is the name of the way you prepare the coffee, the next number is how many milligrams of caffeine there are. This information is recorded from 7 Oz. cup of coffee.
Drip: 115-175 mg
Espresso: 100 mg (serving size 1.5-2 oz)
Brewed: 80-135 mg
Instant: 65-100 mg
Decaf, brewed: 3-4 mg
Decaf, instant: 2-3 mg

Caffeine is not really that great for you. It is a stimulant, or drug that triggers brain activity. It also has an addictive quality in which it sends "messages" to your brain telling you coffee is needed tremendously for survival. This addictive quality gives you pain or other side effects when you dont drink or consume caffeine.

Well, hope I helped you!

funny - I just had a conversation with someone this morning about decaffeinated drinks and they mentioned that toxic chemicals are used in the decaffeination process. Formaldehyde may very well be one of those chemicals.

All decaffeinated products still have some percentage of caffiene. It's a small amount, though... somewhere between 3 - 7%. With the new information about chemicals... I would just opt for herbal teas or hot cocoa if you want to go without caffeine.

No, I just looked at what I had and mine don't.
I will give you a web site that I use to purchase all my Herbal Teas from and that is all we will drink in my house.

Company comes and they bring their own coffee {instant}
we don't even own a coffee pot.
