I am assuming the question refers to transferring bacteria growing on media to another sterile plate of media. This is accomplished by an inoculating loop and a Bunsen burner or ceramic incinerator. You first flame the loop to sterilize it. This is holding the loop in the flame until it glows red. Next open the agar plate and pick a colony of bacteria up with the loop and then streak or inoculate the new sterile media with the loop. Then after the transfer re-sterilize the loop in the flame.
