I'm heading to New York for 3 days. If you had to pick the best things to do, or see, or eat while there, what would it be? I've only got 3 days to get a NY experience, so choose wisely!

Guidebooks and tourist websites will tell you all the basics. Here are some places you might want to check out that are probably not in those types of guides:

Le Souk - Hookah Bar/Northern African Restaurant/Disco - Avenue B between 3rd and 4th st.

Zabar's - Fantastic Deli/Grocery - 80th st. and Broadway - www.zabars.com

Joe's Shanghai - Dim Sum, Soup Dumplings - Chinatown - Pell st. between Mott and Bowery

Lit - Great Dive Bar, check out the basement too - 2nd avenue between 5th and 6th st.

Rodeo Bar - Restaurant/Live Music, try the
pomegranite margarita and some Texas BBQ - 3rd avenue and 27th st. - www.rodeobar.com

There's some great suggestions here, so I'd back his up with some research on the Official New York City Tourism website.

The other thing is, you want to be as close to the action as possible, to save time on transport. So I have given you a few options on accommodations, which you can sort by star rating, price and location.

Woogoo apartments is quite popular these days:

Good luck with your planning:

The NBC tour is fun, and not horribly expensive. Definitely do Rockefeller Plaza, then you can shop your way up 5th Ave til you hit Central Park. Tiffany's, FAO Scwartz, The Plaza Hotel are all in this stretch. Time's Square is another iconic stop, and worth seeing at least once in your life!! Macy's and The Empire State Building if time allows are also nice visits. Have fun!!
