If you work in kennels your friends should have the respect to believe you. Tell them that I said that you are right.

Yes, All mammals have umbilical cords. If a dog has four puppies, there will be four umbilical cords. Each puppy emerges in its own placental membrane, or sac, which must be removed before the puppy can breathe. The mother usually takes care of this by tearing off (and sometimes eating) the membrane, and then severs the umbilical cord. After delivery, she will lick each puppy to stimulate its breathing.

Yes they do. As with all mammals the mother bites the cord and then eats the after birth which replaces nutrients back to the mother. The cord drops off just like on a human baby after a few days.

All mammals , except the marsupials( animals with pouches like kangaroos) and the monotremes ( platypus that lay eggs[!]) have umbilical cords, it's one of the things that defines them as mammals. The umbilical cord connects the foetus to the placenta in the mother's womb and is what provides nutrients to the developing puppy. After birth the momma dog bites it in two and it dries and drops off, leaving the belly button

Yep. Every mammal(except the egg-laying ones) is born with an umbilical cord. If you look closely, you can see a dog's bellybutton. It's not quite the same-shaped as ours but you can find it by feeling around on their abdomin pretty easily.

Yes of course they are just like humans, the mother chews through the cord and licks the pups clean just after birth. I have watched my Yorkies deliver 12 pups, she knew exactly what to do without any classes!!

ALL of them hon.... all of them.. even us

the umbilical cord is how the *mother* gives the babies nourishment while in the womb. Without it nothing could survive unless God made a better way...

WAY TO GO = YOU WON THIS ONE

Our dog just had a puppy 5 weeks ago. My wife watched her chew the cord off her baby, after delivery.

2nd-hand info, I know, but I trust my wife. Plus, I saw the bloody bellybutton stump, afterward.
