The first thing you need to understand is that anything and everything you receive from God comes through the only Mediator between God and man, the Man Christ Jesus. (I Timothy 2:5)
You first of all must accept the testimony of God concerning yourself - that you are a sinner worthy of death and deserving of God's just punishment. Jesus said "those who are well have no need of a doctor, but those who are sick." If you have recognized this, take heart, it is an indication of God's Holy Spirit dealing with you. The Bible said Jesus would send the Holy Spirit into the world to convince the world of sin and righteousness and judgment. But this is just the beginning of God's dealings. You need to be willing to turn away from your way of living life and begin to do things God's way. This is what repentance is all about. The word denotes a radical change of mind and approach towards life. Paul, preaching in Athens said: "Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all, everywhere should repent, because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead."
(Acts 17:30,31)
Paul explains in great depth the whole process of how a man gets right with God in the Letter to the Romans. In the tenth chapter he comes to this very practical instruction: "But the righteousness based on faith speaks thus, "do not say in your heart 'who will ascend into heaven?' (that is, to bring Christ down), or 'who will descend into the abyss?' (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead)." But what does it say? The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart - that is, the word of faith which we are proclaiming, that if you confess with your mouth "Jesus is Lord", and believe in your heart God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness; and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. For the Scripture says "whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed." For their is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches to all who call upon Him; for Whoever calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved." (Romans 10:6-13)
YOU need to act on this. You need to approach God humbly in prayer, ask him to forgive your sins for Christ's sake, and confess faith in Him. Speak it out loud, saying: "God I know I'm a sinner, and I have drifted far from you - I believe you sent your Son the Lord Jesus Christ from heaven to die on a cross for my sins. I choose to repent of my sins at this time and ask you to be gracious and forgive me. I believe that Jesus is the Son of God who died for my sins and who was raised again from the dead. Jesus, please come into my heart and change me, in my innermost being, so that I can begin to live a life that is pleasing to you. I forgive all who have offended me, and I am asking you to forgive me and become my Lord and Savior today. I believe you accept me today on the basis of the word written in the Bible, and I thank you for forgiving me and accepting me. Amen.
Now begin to show your sincerity by getting yourself a Bible and start reading. Start in the New Testament, and just read it through to the end. Ask God to teach you, and start practicing the Word to the best of your understanding. Ask God to lead you to a Church where they preach the Gospel and really try to live according to the truth of the word of God. Get ready for opposition. The devil is real and will do what he can to trip you up. James 4:7 says "Submit yourself therefore to God; resist the devil and he will flee from you." (James 4:7) Only remember that it is the name of Jesus that he fears - begin to use that name in all your prayers and resisting.
May God lead you into his peace. Email me if you wish.

Try taking it just 'one step at a time' ... start going to 'church' but don't go to any church more than once until you feel 'totally accepted and comfortable' or at least 'totally welcome' in that church. Then start to go to church every Sunday (most Protestant churches have only Sunday services) or twice a week (most Episcopal churches have services on both Sunday and Wednesday) or every day (Catholic churches frequently have services 'daily' ... morning, noon, and night). After you have 'attended church' for a month, then get an appointment to talk to the pastor of that church ... introduce yourself, tell him why you are 'going to his church' and something about your own 'story' ... that you want to be 'closer to God and change your life for the better ... and ask him for his advice on 'good ways' you can achieve your goal. There may be classes you can take, or 'discussion groups' you can join ... and try to 'always be good and live the way God would want you to live' in everything that you do. It's hard at first, but the longer you do it, the easier it is.
Prayer may also 'help' but you don't have to 'get on your knees with your hands together and your fingers pointed up' to pray ... the way you 'pray' that 'feels most comfortable to you' is the way that you'll 'pray most often' and whatever 'position' your body is doesn't matter as much as the fact that you ARE praying.

Life is often tough because we make the wrong choices. Wrong choices can be changed right where you are, though. Stop and think.
If you are not "in" Christ, then He does not work in your life. He will help if you let Him. He will not prevent bad things from to you, because remember that He was crucified for His sinless life. Mean people are out there to tempt and lead you away from Jesus and they will always do that because they are working for the devil.
To get into the "body" of Jesus the Christ you must first believe His earthly daddy was God and not some man. Then because you know Him and want to be like Him, you must confess that He truly was God's son while He was on the earth. I believe you have already done these things. After these things, you must be sorry for all of the wrong things you have done in your life and want to right the wrongs you have done or repay as much as possible all of these wrongs. Now there are more things you must do to enter into the body of Christ, which is also called the church and that is to be baptized into Him. In baptism you reach the blood of Jesus. The water is like death, burial and resurrection of Jesus so that means a burial under the water, not just sprinkled or such with water. When scripture speaks of buried with Him it means just that, baptised with Him. Now you are His own child and you are in Him. 1 Peter 3:20-21 shows we are saved by this baptism like the Jewish nation was saved by water when they were saved from the king of Egypt.
Then comes the hard part, living for Him every day of our life. Love Him with all of your heart and stop every day at least one time and talk to Him like you were talking to your best friend. Talk to Him about everything. Laugh with Him when you do something good or funny and cry with Him when you are sad. He does care when you are sad or when you happy or when you need help. Just talk to Him like you would talk to your best friend or your daddy.

first of all, it's God with the big letter "G". if you want to get closer to God, just accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour from the heart and everything will fall into place. Trust God to manifest in your life after this and life might still be rough but it's great to know that you are loved by God and He's always there for you. You will experience peace and you will be overflowing with love that you want to share it with all your friends and family. i'll pray for you.

Thank God for drawing you to his Son Jesus Christ.
John 3:3 - Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
John 3:7 - Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
1 Peter 1:23 - Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
There are a number of scriptures that make up the Roman road to salvation as follows:
Romans 3:23
Romans 6:23
Romans 5:8
Romans 10:9-13
Ephesians 2:8-9
John 5:24
Please read these scripture and allow the Holy Spirit to lead you to Jesus Christ.
God Bless You.

Life is rough. Being a christian doesn't change that....It just changes how you go through it...and you have the Lord's help.
The best place to start is prayer and reading the Bible....then find a Bible believing church that can help you along.

God wants us to be in community with each other. Jesus didn't do the work of God on his own, he chose disciples who were all different and who were from all different professions and status in life. The first churches were small groups of people who had their belief in Jesusin common.
My thought is that you should shop around for a church where you feel comfortable and where the people care more about each other than they care about what they wear, where they live, and who they know. After all, if you want to learn out to skateboard better, you hang out with people who already know how to skateboard. If you want to learn more about God and his/her teachings, start going to church. After all, you can't learning anything about skateboarding if you stay home, inside, and alone. Same goes for learning about God!

Absolutely Not.not going to church, won't turn your life upside down. If you want to be closer to God you should seek out like minded people, you will find there are all types that share your same inspiration and willingness to experience just that.Changing is something only you can do and it starts on the inside and works outward projecting actually who want to be.

It sounds like God is drawing you. He does that!! He's the One that saves us! There is good news - He wants to be closer to you too!! I'd suggest a couple things -
Go to a local church in your area and ask a pastor how one can be closer with God. (Its through giving your life to Jesus Christ!!)
Get a Bible to read that you can understand - "The Message" is good. "J.B. Phillips" is really good too!
Remember this: You can't earn your way to God's heart! You can't be right with Him based on what you do or don't do! That's what the Bible teaches! Jesus died for us to reconcile us back to knowing and walking with God!! When you give your life to Jesus, you are welcomed into a new relationship with God the Father! And He will walk with you until you get to see Him in Heaven someday, face to face!! It's absolutely fantastic news!! I've experienced it and I know it's true!! God really is real and He really does love us!!! Give your life to Him! You won't regret it!!

It is not good to forsake the fellowship of the saints (not saying that you have, just speaking genarally) Hi... your life has been rough because your two worst enemies have the purpose of keeping you away from the most High God. I suggest that you pray about it and start to go to church... when I spoke of your enemies I meant Satan and yourself. If I have offended you, I apologize.... If you want any more information at anytime, My email is mr.shabazz@yahoo.com

Become more self-aware. Realize that only you are in control of your life, stop looking for excuses and things to blame for a rough life. Accept life as it is, change what you don't like.
Going to church will do nothing for you but allow you to blame your problems on a non-existant god.
