Saturday, my boxer Jaclyn came barking at the back door (she was outside). She very rarely barks at the door, she will usually scatch. Anyway, I come to the door and I can tell she wants me to follow her. I follow her to the front of the yard and she stops and looks at me. Then I hear my niece, who is playing with neighbor kids scream...just a play scream...but I just thought it was
so cute that she was worried and came and got me.

One other time she came to the door and barked to let me know that her two brothers had gotten out of the yard. She was a little tattle tail. I thought that was funny.

She is just the cutest and sweetest dog. Everyone loves her.

What a sweetie. I don't have a dog (I wish I could though) but my Dad has the cutest dog story ever:

When my dad was three years old he lived right by a highway. Right on the other side of the highway was his Grandma's house, where he used to go with his mom all the time, and he would always get a cookie. Anyways, one day he got it into his head that he wanted a cookie, so he left the yard and began to cross the highway. His dog, a border collie ran ahead of him and stopped traffic one lane at a time, so he could cross safely. The dog walked him all the way to his grandma's house, and then ran back to get my dad's mom.

That dog saved his life probably.

I had my 4 kids outside one day to play in there play area in the backyard. My 3 year old daughter wondered into the front yard. I had not noticed her missing until I heard my English Bulldog barking and growling. I ran into the front yard worried that something had happened. This strange man I had never seen before had been trying to get in the gate, and my dog would not let him. He was talking to my daughter from the gate trying to get her over to him. He took off pretty quick when I came around the front. I think that my dog probably saved my baby from being kidnapped and possible killed that day, and I love her to bits for it. She has always followed my daughter around though, since the day we brought her home. I have 4 kids, 2 older than her and 1 younger, but I think the bulldog thinks the girl is her baby. We got our dog when she was 1 year old, and my daughter was an infant at the time, and I swear the dog thinks she is her child. I have no doubt that the dog would kill/die for that child.

Very sweet story! Aren't dogs the best?

When I was about 6 and my little brother was 4, my mom drove to school to pick up my sisters and me. My little brother wasn't in school yet and Mom told him to stay at home with the nanny. He wasn't happy about being left out, so he decided to ride to school on his tricycle. It's a two mile ride, through town, over railroad tracks, etc. Helen, our 5 year old golden retriever went with him. She was a wonderful dog, although not a particularly good watch dog. If she ever barked, it was only at the mailman...Anyway, the babysitter went to get my brother and couldn't find him anywhere. She also noticed that Helen was gone too. She called the police. A few minutes later, the police called and said they'd found my brother, only they couldn't get to him because the dog wouldn't let them near him! She snarled and growled and they had to pick the nanny up and take her to where they found him so they could take him home! Our sweet Helen. Not much of a watchdog, but came through when she needed to!

I have a 6 1/2 yr old male shih tzu. He is my heart and soul. I have so many cute stories I could write a book. But last night he was laying on the bed with me. He jumped down and got one of his stuffed squeeky toys and got back up on the bed next to me. He rolled over on his back and held that toy in his front paws playing with it, all the while his back legs were stretched out open wide. I just love it when he plays with his toys like this. He's so dang cute!!! He also likes to play with bottle tops and those tops from cans of hair spray. He'll play with them on the linoleum floor, swatting at them to make them roll. It's a hoot.

Oh, and he try's to eat my husband up when he play acts with me...like he's going to hit me or something. And when we have a little argument or something he gets at my feet between us, growling and barking at him. He's so funny.

I wouldn't take a million dollars cash for him.

Our family boxer (Xena) used to love Christmas when we were younger because she would shred the wrapping paper in pure ecstasy. One christmas we gave her her own little stocking with wrapped bones and pig ears. When I walked in the living room she was just standing there looking at me. I pointed to the stocking and said "whats that?" and she sprinted over to her stocking, pulled out her gift, unwrapped it and and did her little victory dance before she finally did 2 1/2 circles and sat down to enjoy. She passed last April and we miss her so much.
