What was Jesus teaching with the Mary & Martha story? <Luke 10: 38-42>?

I think the first thing we have to remember is they are both Saints today. I think the Lord was actually telling Martha not to be lazy and jealous. He knew that the work had to be done. He is practical too but, the thing is, rather than doing the work happily for them, she was mad because Mary wasn't helping, so instead of being Glad that Jesus was there and that he had someone listening to him, all she thought about was the work she had to do. Today it seems like the Mary types do not sit happily and pray but, they busy themselves with complaining why Martha is always working and never praying. There is a fine line to everything and the Lord knows everyones heart.

We need to forget about everything and just focus on Jesus. Mary sat at the feet of Jesus and concentrated fully on what Jesus was saying, whereas Martha was busy in the kitchen, getting irritated with Mary for not helping her and in the process, she didn't hear what Jesus was saying. He was simply telling Martha that what we (today) have problems with... We become consumed with things, though sometimes in our best interests, and overlook that fact that we may be missing information (or teachings) that can save our lives.

ex:
When someone is trying to offer counseling to an individual, the individual makes themselves busy with other things (which sometimes maybe good) and miss out on the helpful words that could change their life.

The text says, "But Martha was distracted..." More important than her worrying about getting everything ready was to spend time with the one she was getting ready for...Jesus.
