In Orwells 1984 all the children were "medicated" to keep them calm and not agressive. The Wall was about a child who could have had ADD or rather ADHD.

I agree most kids that are told they are ADD OR ADHD Have ASPERGER'S SYNDROME. Ritalin is given so the teacher who wants the kids all neat in a row can teach not to really help the kid. Take it from a mom who has been there and now home schools. Oh man so funny you say Pink Floyd! Every time I hear that song I think of my son's teacher! From when we had him in school.

ADD has always been here. It is nothing that just materialized. Albert Einstein for one had ADD. Do some searching on the subject you will be amazed the people you have heard about who have it. Even presidents.
My son has ADHD and I was amazed all the people we heard about. By the way my son is now 19 years old and it will never go away. Hope this helps.
