if you don't believe in God, doesn't mean that he's not Real.. is like if I ask you.. do you believe that i have $340,000 saved in the bank and I already have a House, plus a 2005 Lotus elise and i'm 24 years old! well, Many of you won't believe unless I show it to you!! but if you want to know that all these things i have are real!! you will have to come to me and find out!!! many of you will not come here at all, and I will never see you in my life!! so it's the same thing with God.

In order for you to know him - you will have to come to him! and he'll make you understand that he's real not with the human mind but with a humble heart..

So you don't have to see the things phisically to believe in them!!

by the way i live is southern california

Great analogy. I've tried to make this same point to them.

You're so wrong. Most atheists were some form of Christian at some point in their life. Then they were Saved from the brainwashing and grew up to accept life and become better people as atheists. (They stopped blaming satan for everything and took responsibility for their own actions)

"by the way i live is southern california" In what way is that at all relevant?

"o.k but this is my point

So you don't have to see the things phisically to believe in them!!

and yes all i have is real! of course it was not that easy but it's real ! is not really hard to believe!!"

So you're point is that you have no point? Or was it just to brag about your possessions?

I actually am not an atheist and I will not disclose my religous beliefs as I dont feel that you will understand them. What does having saved all of that have to do with God? You wont be able to take it with you when you die and frankly your financial situation is none of our business. You are entiteld to your own belief system and I respect you for it but DO NOT try to force your beliefs down the throats of others. Every person needs to find god (or not find god, to each his own) in his or her own way. You do not need to be a soldier of the lord, if you believe you will be saved great but it is not your place to tell everyone else what they should believe. Keep going to your church, and pray for us all if you need to but this is why there is a separation between church and state everyone has the right to believe or not believe.

What you have or don't have is just like the idea of god -- I don't care what you have or don't have, and what you have or don't have doesn't affect my life one tiny bit. Just like the idea of god.

No, I don't need god. Nobody does, since the idea of god is nothng more than superstitious myth. You've been convinced by other people that you DO need this myth -- but you really don't. Guess what -- with no god myth in your life, you can still be happy, wealthy, intelligent (in fact even more so), and live a good life. No god myth needed.

You're an atheist when it comes to Thor, Odin, Ra, Baal, Osiris, etc. -- I just go one god further ;)

Peace.

I suppose I should thank you for what you have written, since it does give me that little glimmer of hope...

Only in California, surely only in California would this pass for good argument?

Oh by the way I was a fully committed believing Christian for many years, but the counter-proposal to yours does apply: believing something firmly does not, of itself, make it true. And reading the bible causes many to cease to be Christians.

Do you believe in Zeus? Why not? Have you never seen lightning bolts? They're real. Thousands upon thousands of people have believed in Zeus with all their hearts and minds. Why do you not?

What about Thor? Many have had such strong faith that they have given their lives in his name. Why do you not sing his praises every day?

Ask yourself those questions seriously--make a real effort--and maybe you'll come to understand why many of us remain unconvinced despite the obvious enthusiasm and conviction of others.

I've already done it your way. I was well-indoctrinated into Christianity as a child and stayed faithful into my early 20s. I DID "know him" and I DID "understand." Then I learned a few things about the natural world. Enough to see that there isn't anything that points to a creator.

I'd accept a fax showing that your name was on the deeds to these things... though that's also visible, admittedly.

However, 'seeing is believing' is not the motto of atheists. 'what evidence do you have' would be closer.

Show me credible evidence that there is a deity, and I'll accept that there is a deity.

Whatcha got? Anything subject to the rules of logic and testability I'll accept, emotional appeals or logical fallicies I will reject.

andymcj, LOL!!! Right over his head.

"so it's the same thing with God."

All right then.
Where's the proof, spanky?

"In order for you to know him - you will have to come to him!"
Supposedly this god is all-powerful, spanky. Why can't he just show himself to me? He's more than capable of doing so.

But he doesn't.
And won't.
BECAUSE HE DOESN'T EXIST.

You haven't been on this site for very long, have you?
You would do well to refrain from telling others which god they "need" to believe in.

The possibility that you have all of those things is possible (although I serious would doubt it). The possibility that there is a god is 0%. Therefore, why do I 'need' a mythological being? I do not.
