As already mentioned, dogs do need access to fresh, clean water, 24/7, which also means emptying out the water and putting fresh water back in several times throughout the day.. or else it would be like you pouring yourself a glass of water in the morning, then when you are thirsty later that night, having to drink that same glass of water you poured yourself in the morning.

I have 2 Shih Tzus . They drinking water available at all times. CLEAN water is more difficult since their water has to be changed several times a day. It's like they wash their face in it , contstantly leaving debris! So change the water often through the day and wash that water bowl daily.

Leave a bowl of fresh clean water out at all times. They will drink what they need. Some dogs drink a lot, some just a little, but they all need water.

Just keep the water bowl full and fresh *all* the time please..

Then you will only have to worry about how much and when to feed.

I believe as a general rule, dogs (and other animals) should have access to fresh water all the time. If it seems that your dog is constantly drinking water, he/she may have a health problem and should be taken to your vet. Conversely if you dog won't drink, that could indicate a problem as well...

Get a gravity water container at your local pet store. Average around $10. A dog will drink as much as it needs. They water bottles usually hold at least a litre of water. There are bigger ones out there as well. My 2 beagles have a litre water container and I fill it every other day.
