I am looking for God, and i want answers. This may sound silly, but i take this very seriously.
I have been pouring over various religious beliefs and doctrines in search of God/gods and i cant seem to find him.
I started my search with Christianity, but i didnt find God in it, all i found was a sadistic 3 year old who likes murdering unbelievers.
Allah, didnt make it too far on my list either.
I have heard different people make different claims, like *You gotta let God talk to you* or *God will reveal himself to you if you look hard enough.
I am looking, and am finding nothing, I only have enough proof in my mind that their is something out their beyond human comprehension, but whatever that "thing" is, obviously has no desire to have me as a follower.
I dont feel a warm fuzzy sensation, i dont hear a comforting voice, i dont get my prayers answered.
All i want, is to find God, has anyone had any luck?

i can see very few people are understanding my question fully. I am looking for God. Whatever, or whomever He might be.
The God of the Bible has murdered 30 million+ people for not believing in Him, or some other thing of that nature.
I would like to let everyone know, that i became a Christian, i went through the steps, and had a burning love for God. I read (and still read) my Bible everyday. The NT was wonderful, but around leviticus going into deutoronomy i saw all the atrocoties commited with Gods go ahead.
Atheist's blame things like the crusades, thats stupid, thats a perversion of a religion. But in the OT time and time again, God orders to kill millions because they dont believe in Him.
If Yahweh is the true God, i have a few questions for him...
As for Atheists "the fool says in his heart, there is no God" Epictetus says we "have the bodies of beasts and the minds of gods" our knowledge of an afterlife and otherwordly things, a 6 sense if you will, is my most-------

Oh my darling! My heart breaks for you. I wish there was a simple solution to this. Often when we are desperate and look very VERY deeply, we find nothing. We feel lost. It seems like that point is where you are now.
God is not in doctrine. I am a Catholic. I have sworn obedience to my God and my Church. But God is not in the doctrine. Doctrine is just how we show obedience TO God.
God is right there. Waiting.
People find God in different ways. The monastics find God in prayer and building churches. The friars find God in prayer and in nature. Some people know how to be Christ for others. That's a real gift if you ask me.
You know. I don't get the warm fuzzies with God. God loves me. I know that. God loves to play jokes on me. I love that. God very often challenges me. I can't say I love that as much. But I know He's right. I am always in a better place after the challenge.
Your prayers are always answered. Sometimes the answer is no. I wanted desperately to be a cloistered Carmelite nun. But God said no. He wants me out in the world. So I am about to become a Secular Franciscan after almost three full years of formation. I'm excited!!!
I have a favorite line in the bible. "Be still and know that I am God." Have you tried just being still? Just being quiet? Put all the books away. Just close your eyes and wait for Him.
You know, Jewish Synagogs have a red lamp to signify that God is present. He is there in their tabernacle. Their scrolls. The Word of God. That's why they handle their scripture with such reverence.
Very few people know the significance of the bible calling Jesus "the word made flesh."
Catholic Churchs have a red lamp to signify that God is present. He is there in the tabernacle. "This IS my body." The consecrated host. That's why we Catholics treat our Eucharist with such reverence.
While our Protestant brethren dislike repeated prayer, the science of Neurotheology has proven that it works. It shuts down the "logical" mind and opens up the "feeling" mind. Literally opening our minds to God. A small chant. A phrase. Some people just repeat Jesus, Yahweh or some other name they use for God. The Orthodox Christians use the Jesus Prayer. Lord Jesus, have mercy on me.
God bless you!

I don't understand the 3 yr old thing, but I am a Christian and I see God in everything. As I get older I realize what I was told as a kid about following the Bible, was true and still is. I find that this world is falling apart as we get more and more lenient with our morals (Christians included). I will tell you what I feel is truth. God is everywhere and wants nothing but the best for us. I don't know what you've heard in your life, but it's not as hard as you think it might be. God is just waiting for us to reach out to Him with our hearts and our souls. You don't have to be perfect or even close to perfect to seek Him. If you truly want a change in your life and you believe Jesus Christ lived, died, and rose again for us than your right there. Once you get down on your knees and honestly let God know that you appreciated what He did for you and tell Him that you want forgiveness for the sins you have committed, then that's all He wants. God knows we will never be perfect and He doesn't expect that. The only thing He expects from us is to love Him, talk to Him, and learn about Him. Once you get to that point the rest will follow. Once you realize what He does for you everyday you will want to thank Him and do right by Him. I don't hear a comforting voice either, but I know He's there. There have been many things that have happened in my life and my families life that people would call coincidence, but I know it's God. I pray that He keeps my family safe and healthy and I believe He does. As for your prayers, it depends on what you ask. God knows what you need better than you do believe it or not and He won't give you what you want the way you want it and it's not fair of you to demand it that way. God gives you what you need, when you need it. We think we know it all, but forget He's the creator and knows what's always best for us. Don't turn away from HIm, because when you think no one is there for you or when your at your lowest, know that He's there waiting for you to call to HIm. He loves you and will never ever let you down. God bless you and I will pray for you while you are on this journey.

I understand that this is difficult for you.
Why do you say "whatever that "thing" is, obviously has no desire to have me as a follower" ? I have found that the majority of rejection people feel from 'religion', etc. comes from *people*, not God himself. Humans by nature are flawed and hurt each other often, purposely and not.
I won't give you a 'pat answer' because I know that's not what you want or need. God impacts lives differently for everyone, and it may be that you have not quite experienced his love and grace yet. I hope you will, and I hope someone wise in your life will be able to help you.

I am sorry I don't understand who the 3 yrs old is who likes to kill unbelievers. Are you speaking of God the Father who brought judgement on those who would infect the world with paganism, especially the line of Christ? You won't find the true God until you go back to Christianity. God is fair and all the judgements you hear about Him are the results of folks who absolutely rebel against God. If you go to a website www.ttb.org. It is a Bible teacher who right now is teaching the book of John, you will learn about Jesus in a true and real way. God Bless you for your search and I sincerely pray that you find the truth. Yes, I have been blessed by God and He has given meaning to my life. I hope you find this and if you sincerely are searching you will find Him.

first , Allah = God it is the arabic word that is used by both muslims and arab christians .
i don't think u searched well in islam , in islam lays a very important stress on Belief in One and Only incomparable God. In Islam monotheism in not restricted only to words. Islam is a pure monotheistic religion. As Encyclopedia Britannica puts it “No religion has interpreted monotheism in a more consequential and literal way than Islam”. God has no son, partners, human forms and none has the right to be worshipped but Him alone.

Hi, I must first tell you this: My name is Hassan Shabazz, I am 18 and I am a true believer in the God of the religion that man calls Christianity. I came to the belief of this deity by a "miracle" as we humans say. I was 14 and I was in an abusive relationship with my father, he would beat me and cuss me out over the smallest things. At this time I was tired of it and My father and I moved to Sacramento California. When I was there and started going to church, I wanted to stay. My father was compelled to go so I chose to run away from him in a city I had only been in for two weeks. I said "God if you help me out with this situation, I will live for you" He blessed me to get money to call my mom (who live in Sac) and she picked me up from my location when she had no license plates or anything and we got home safely. This is my experience with God and the evidence that bases my beliefs... If you want a suggestion, I say ask Him for an experience with Him. May he never forget your name as one of those who want to know him and may your success flourish until the end of time. Amen.

Have you tried reading the Bible? Start with the Gospels in the New Testament. Ask God to show you the truth. I found the truth 36 years ago when God spoke this simple word into my heart: "Maybe Jesus really did die for your sins."
With that one word my whole life changed, and I became born again, even though I didn't know such a thing was possible. I changed from a doubter to a believer, from a hater to a lover, from a liar to truthful, from a thief to an honest man, from stingy to generous, from proud to humble, from profane to respectable, from hopeless to hope filled; from cowardly to fearless, from despairing to joyful. I have not lost these things in 36 years, but rather have progressed in them, increasing in the wisdom and knowledge of God.
The answer is simple. The answer is this:
"...Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge." (Colossians 2:2,3)

I feel the same. I started reading about Buddhism and agnosticism, and there about all that makes sense to me.I don't so much believe the re-birth part of Buddhism but I believe there is a way to live life in a good way. I certainly don't believe if someone created life and the universe he would write it down. lets free ourselves from mental slavery.

Do this:
Sit down alone and in silence.
Lower your head, shut your eyes, breathe out gently, and
Imagine yourself looking into your own heart.
As you breathe out,
say "Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me."
Say it, moving your lips gently, or simply say it in your mind.
Try to put all other thoughts aside.
Be calm, be patient and repeat the process very frequently.
Keep the mind free from dreaming;
make it closed to suggestions of the enemy.
This will lead to Divine desire and love.

You aren't finding anything because there's nothing to find. Sorry, "god has left the building" (ok, he was never in the building...but it seemed like a good line).
You've let reason show you that the superstitious mainstream religions have nothing to offer -- go ahead and take the next logical, reasonable step...there's no god to find. Then get on with your life, which YOU are in control of, and enjoy this one life you will have.
Peace.
