I want to gauge my ears..but im going to go one size at a time. How do i go from 18/20 to 16/18? It seems like it would be hard to fit the stretcher into an 18/20 size hole. Also, how long after i got my ears pierced would i need to wait, and how long inbetween sizes?

buy slightly larger jewelry and insert. wait about 6 weeks between stretching to allow the ear to rebuild or you'll begin to notice thinning wait about 3 months after the intial piercer before you stretch it. and just a lil note gauge is a unit of measure not a verb.

Its called stretching :D And its good you are going one gauge at a time because that's the safe and smart way to do it. You need to wait at least 4 months before stretching your lobes. This ensures the area is healed fully and that the tissue is strong.

Depending on your target size, I suggest picking up a good quality stretching kit. But definitely determine how big you want to go so you know what your investment will cost.

But to get from one size to another, you insert a taper to stretch the ear gently, though you will feel some pain. Once the taper is in, slide it out shortly after and insert the matching sized jewelry.
Depending on the size you are going to, you should wait at least 4 weeks between stretching, but once you get past 2g, you should wait at least 6-8 weeks between your stretches.

Its not too hard, but there are risks involved. I suggest you read the following page and feel free to ask me more specific questions if you want.

If you are worried about causing damage or hurting your ear lobes, you can always have a professional piercer do this for you. Its not overly costly but it is much safer.

I would get a professional to do it, you can damage your skin if you do it yourself and you are inexperienced. You can, however, get tapered claws for the smaller gauges. And there is no suck thing as 18/20 or 16/18. There is 20 gauge, 18 gauge, and a 16 gauge.

there would nicely be truly now no longer a lot substitute in a 16 and 18 gauge submit. you need to be pleasant with 18s after your ears heal up. although, 20 guages are extra regularly than no longer going to be a reliable bit loose. it really is, except you'll placed on danglies- the load of them save the hollow from final. wisely, it stretches them a tiny bit.

I would wait until they are healed. There are different sized stretchers, so find one that's small when starting out. Let that heal then keep going. Take good care of your ears so they don't stink and crap. That's gross!

i would use a straight taper, they seem less drastic than the curved or buffalo style. just take it slow and listen to your body. if it hurts (a little discomfort is expected but actual pain) leave the taper where it is and wait before pushing it in further.
