Remember that wide open flat stretch of desert that that black Trans AM Kit in Knught Rider was driving top speed on? Thing is, I don't live in California, I live nearby Chicago. The main reason why people speed on the roads is because they don't have a place they can go do it at. And don't tell me that the only place I can do it at is some measly quarter mile drag strip. There's got to be a place where it's perfectly legal and I have all the space in the world to do it. Some speedway maybe? I plan on getting an 8-cylinder sports car and really maxing it out, and yes, I know it's illegal to do that on public roads, I know better. But like I said, there's GOT TO BE a place where I can speed to my heart's desire. Any places in or around the Illinois/Indiana area? And if not, where is that wide space like in that show "Knight Rider" or what they do in the TV series "MythBusters"?

Anything you can tell me, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

If you have a little cash, take a vacation to Germany. The Nurbergring (the old track - 13 miles, 140 corners) is open to the public (for about 14 Euros per lap), and has no speed limits at all. Rent a BMW and have a blast. Otherwise, stick to the Bonneville Salt Flats, in Utah.

Out west in the middle of the desert there are strips that don't have speed limits.

An alternative is to find an abandoned airfield, they have very long straights and some high speed curves through taxi lanes to other runways.
