The worst in our area is... Sannnn lueisss bay mooootors, whear wee tweat yu right. Ugh his accent is the worst I have ever heard. His commercials are soo stupid (I know they all are) but this guy makes me want to NEVER buy a car from him because I PRAY he will go out of business and I will never have to hear his stupid commercial again. So dumb.
Yu caan geeet a new keya for one hunred an nindy nine dollars a mont. UGHHH.
Thanks, I know it didnt really answer your question but I HAD to get it off my chest. I don't have a remote control either, so when it comes on tv I can't just switch the channel like I normally would. Radio commercials are ok, just tv. (I also hate the lunesta commercials, at least the old one. How many times can you say Lunesta in one commercial? Apperantly 14! lunestaaahhh lunestaaahhh ugh.)

Car ads are weird because the advertisement companies are hired to come up with a creative approach to show you the car - which, most of the time, results in a car being driven on a glossy road on a clear day, with some professional speaker talking about how smooth of a ride it is and how affordable they now are. If we, the viewer, are lucky the ad will be funny.
So, why not actually give the specs for the car in these ads? Because most people don't understand cars and some people are actually intimidated by hearing all that garble ("5 million horsepower, V1000 engine, with a duel semiautomatic thrust engager..."). So, it is safer to make an ad that is geared toward everyone. If you want the specs for the car, come into the dealership - which is what they want you to do anyway. Most people are sold on the look of the car, which is what they're (usually) showing you for those 30 seconds.
As for my favorite ad, I don't recall what company it was for, but a couple was in the car and everything that was going on around them was creating its own compiled song - the windshield wipers, the kid bouncing the basketball, the guy sweeping the sidewalk. Told nothing about the car, of course, but great commercial. :)
Worst would be any that show a white background with the car in the middle with some guy talking and walking around the car. I think Ford used to do those commercials.

Because most cars in any particular class are almost exactly the same, most even look similar.

Hey John,
It's not ONLY with cars.
The Geico commercials with the Cavemen make no sense whatsoever and have nothing to do with insurance. Maybe entertaining to a certain degree, it's like watching a soap opera, but nothing to do with what they're selling.

Because selling is all about sex, money and status, not reality.
I don't like the one (Ford I think) where the meteor comes from space and ends up as a car. Complete drivel.
