To anyone who does not believe in God, I would have you contemplate two things. First, it is better to live as if there is a God and be wrong than to live as if there were no God and be wrong. I think it was Kant that said that. Second, go to your local library and read "The Sea Wolf" by Jack London. Try to refute the captain of that ship in any convincing way without invoking a supreme being. Contemplate that the people most willing to give their lives to helping others are those that have abiding faith. People believe in God because the race will not survive without Him. It will be a Hobbsian existence: nasty, brutish, and short.

I don't have to fight against "the living god" -- there is no such thing.

It saddens my heart to see people wasting their lives chasing an afterlife that does not exist when they might be doing more good for the world we actually are living in.

I agree. It burdens me when someone curses or blasphemes God. They don't understand that we are witnessing to them because we love them. I just pray that their eyes will be opened to the Truth in this life instead of the next. I am so glad that God has called me His own and that He has allowed me to know that He is the One, True God.
