Someone is making money because of hair. Most women consider pubic hair to be a problem. Women say pubic hair is nasty, and they want to get rid of it. They want to get rid of it for the same reason they want to get rid of hairy armpits or mustaches. All of life's problems are solved by people. The wealthiest people know how to solve problems.

It indicates maturity and it also provides a lubricant on bare skin. Hair will slide on skin, but skin usually doesn't slide easily on skin.
There are also other theories that pubic hair traps pheromones to attract the opposite sex.
