you have to pick a time to start and say no to the urge to grab a cig ... and then u have to say no to it about 500 times a day for the first few days because the mind attaches many everyday activities with smoking like eating or watever .. say no every time to it .. just keep saying no ... if u make it to the 1 week point the urge will die down to 200 times a day ... if u make it to 2 weeks the urge will die down to 50 times a day ...after 3 weeks the urge will almost be gone except for the idea that will pop up a couple of times if u get stressed or angry at somthing that a cig will help u ... say no to it ...after a month or so u will be free but u cant give into the idea ever a gain that u "need" a cig if u get really upset and tell urself ur gonna smoke "one" just "because" .... thats cold turkey ... and the first couple of weeks will be hell ..

You need to have a mindset to STOP smoking, not quit smoking. Quitting brings up connotations of quitting the quit, or to quit quitting, but to STOP is final. Also, ask yourself who is stronger, you or the cigarette? Depending on where you live, you may be able to take a smoking cessation class for free. I live in the state of Idaho, and they offer these classes. They are very educational, and show you a lot of different techniques. I had to stop cold turkey. I had tried to slow down, but that wasn't really doing anything for me, and I felt that patches or anything else would just prolong it all.
Good luck to you.

I am 42. I quit when I was 36 and smoked since I was 19. What forced me to quit was getting pneumonia & bronchitis. Then when I would get intense cravings I used nicotene gum and that seemed to make the process pretty easy,

My grandma tried hypnotism etc. nothing worked for her except Acupuncture. Oddly enough, try an Acupuncture to Quit Smoking Smoking Cessation.

Get saved! Jesus hates smoking, and he'll help you to quit.
1 Corinthians 6:19
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

Put a rubber band on your wrist and everytime you feel like having a cigarette, snap the rubber band real hard so it hurts, then you will quit. and get your teeth cleaned and drink lots of water.

you should just tell yourself youre going to stop, and decide on when. it wont happen unless youre really ready, and have your mind set on it. i should really take my own advice since im a smoker myself. but i'd like to quit too. just get the courage one day, wake up, and tell yourself thats it.
