I use tempory filling when I lose a filling, you can get it at any drugstore; it's a white clay-type substance and you just press it into the hole where the filling was and smooth it down with your tongue...it will keep out the air, which is most likely causing your discomfort, and then some topical orajel for any other pain. When you get into the dentist he will just pull out the temporary and fill you in.

Whatever you do, DON'T PUT AN ASPIRIN AGAINST THE TOOTH. This is an old treatment that can damage or kill the tooth. It might dull the pain, but you'll pay for it later, maybe with a root canal.

Try asking at a drugstore or pharmacy or chemist's shoppe, depending on what part of the world you're in. There are over-the-counter treatments for tooth pain, and they should be able to recommend something to you.

Motrin, 800 mg by mouth every 12 hours, if you can take it. Try clove oil around the base of the tooth or on the part that's broken off. Also, if there is a part missing, fill it with a temporary dental filling you can purchase over the counter. Make a dental appt. ASAP!

I think orajel soaked on a cloth placed on the tooth, it might relive it some by putting a lil pressure. I've heard something about cloves, but it never worked for me. Besides loratabs that's the best I can do, dentist think so many people are drug seeking- good luck, I know how you feel.
