That's a very good way to word this question. We receive God's grace, whereas acceptance implies an ability to recognize how fallen we are. Faith is given, not taken.

I believe obedience is thrown in the mix somewhere, God's word usually gives you a choice. Even forgiveness is usually pre-qualified with sayings like "if you confess & REPENT...God is faithful...
