to add to my question about my pitbull (supposedly) his brothers n sisters looked like pits to me, but he has a tiny lab resemblence or something. so i figured maybe they got a puppy from a friend or something n may have thrown him in the mix to sell. it doesnt matter that much, i just wanna know if what im telling people is accurate. how can i tell tho? some people havetold me pits can climb trees, they shake things more than other dogs, they have ridges under their neck, they have ridges on their heads??? anyone???

My sister has had a pit for ten years now.... It looks nothing like a lab...I am guessing that your dog, as well as the other pups are mixed..... that could explain why they appear different....Mixed breeds are usually a very good choice however...they do not inherit as many of the bad traits that are usual to the breed (ie; bad hips in goldens & heart problems in cockers) Pits have square jaws and a large mouth opening.... check out this web site

He can be from the same litter, but different father.Even if from the same father, he can be a throwback to a grandparent, so would appear different...But, on the last link to pics I sent, you will see the young dark pups, that may appear more like yours..
None of the traits that you mentioned would prove the purity of his breeding.
If you keep scrolling here, you will see several pit puppies, at a few weeks old> http://www.bigbluepits.com/puppies.html

If you got him for $50, I am betting that he hasn't been de-wormed and vaccinated. You need to get that done very quickly, as pit bulls are especially prone to getting parvo...Then you can ask the vet, if he appears purebred to her/him.

My little terrier shakes things, and my German Shepherd Dog climbed trees..

Pits climb trees? Any aggressive dog will shake things-doesn't have to be a pit..ridges? Most "bully" breeds have the occipital(sp) bone aka as knowledge knot on their heads gving them a cone shape or knotty look.
I'd quit worrying about what your friends and others are saying and just enjoy your pup for who he is and what he has to offer which is unconditional love.

There is no way to tell. I'm sorry.

Tell people it's a pit mix. It shouldn't really matter.

If you wanted a purebred, you should have adopted from someone whow knows for sure, or bought from a breeder.

Look up pit bull on google's image search and look for resemblances. That's the best I can give you.
