It depends on how long you were together. I've always been told that it takes 1/2 the amount of time you were together to get over the person. So if you were together for a year, it'll take about 6 months to get over them. When ever I just get out of a relationship I always try to spend as much time as I can with my really good friends that are always there. Going out to eat, bowling, movie nights whatever. Just try not to sit at home and mope or cry about it. That makes it worse.

Sweetie, getting over a lost love takes time and refocusing on new things. You are entering a new stage in your life. Is there anything you've always wanted to do - play an instrument, take dance classes, learn to do anything at all? Now is the time to do that. Invest in YOU, because you are the only you that you'll ever have. Cry when you need to, lean on your friends, and day by day, you will grow out of this loss. I'm sorry this happened to you. It happens to all of us at some point. Good luck on your NEW LIFE!

Think of all the negative things about that person, avoid seeing them and talking about them, and, as soon as you are ready, give yourself the chance to fall in love again. Everyone is irreplaceable!

whatever you do- don't try to get over it by getting involved with someone else! try to find as many things to get into to occupy your time. try all kinds of hobbies, music, reading...anything.
