No, it's not always the end of a relationship. Maybe he just wants some time and distance to think about the relationship. Sometimes a person can get really involved with the situation and have trouble seeing the relationship as a whole. Better ask him WHY he wants the break and if he's just saying that so he can end the relationship without any guilt or if he really does have something to think through.

If you guys decide to go on a relationship break, set some ground rules before you take the break. Figure out if you'll still continue to see each other (just for casual dating, or hanging out) and how often, or if you guys get to date other people. Ask how long the break will last for.

Remember, if you guys do get back together, you might not want to know what he got up to while you were separated. Setting ground rules will let him know what you think is acceptable and what is not.

I've been on a break with a boyfriend before (his idea), and I realised I was happier without him than with him. We decided to call it quits, and we were both happier that way. It's not the end of the relationship, but it might help you figure some stuff out, too.

No, he's trying to keep you on the side while he is hanging out with other girls. But he tells you it's just a break in case he doesn't find what he's looking for. If he finds something better, then he turns the "take a break" into a break up.

Yep! So move on with your life and find a good man who is not interested in breaks from you. Because if he LOVED you he would not want a break.

wat he's really doing is just breaking up w/ you 2 hook up w/ some chicks. that way he doesnt feel bad when he's having intimate moments w/ them becuase he broke up w/ you. once things dont work out w/ the new chick.. he'll come back 2 you and apologize and give his sad story 2 take him back. he'll never tell you that he got w/ some1 while you guys were on your "break"

yes, sweetie, back away and do your own thing, move on and try to keep the chin up and forget. a real man doesnt take "breaks".. not if he really cares about you and you are who he wants to be with.

Yes. They perceive it as the easy way to end the relationship. They see other women out there they want to chase after and you are their current boat anchor.

Let him go and good riddance. Count yourself luck that he wasn't going behind your back.

Good luck.

A~
