I am hoping to go to Chamonix, France on Monday flying into Geneva, Switzerland. However i have only 1 month left on my passport. Any idea if this is acceptable? I can also take a photo driving license but i am unsure if this is considered as a national european ID card.

I've worked in immigration and as far as i can remember, if you hold a British passport and it is valid beyond your departure date from Switzerland, you should be fine.
But it's always good to check with the Swiss embassy before you go.
So that you know, a driving licence is not considered as a valid travel document though.
Have a nice trip!

You should be ok with your passport to Swizterland. However, as they are not part of the EU, you should check with their embassy. Assuming you are in the UK, the Foreign Office http://www.fco.gov.uk/servlet/Front?pagename=OpenMarket/Xcelerate/ShowPage&c=Page&cid=1007029396086 can provide contact details for all foreign embassies in the UK.
