Like, how do you give a promise ring to woman? Does the guy do it like the engagement ring, down on one knee, with all the mushy words and feelings for her, or what? Is there a tradition or something? Where can I find info on this? My boyfriend is gettin' me a promise ring and he needs this info.

well, I'd say just make it meaningful...you'll know the moment. My boyfriend and I were hanging out in his room, and I fell asleep and he woke me up and he gave it to me, and the ring itself was significant because of the engravings/cuts in it had symbolism. And he just spoke from his heart, and he defined what the promise was right away: that's important. We were just laying around, in plain clothes, and he told me that he promised that he would always seek to be a man I could be proud of, that he was completely devoted to me, and one day wanted to replace this ring with an engagement ring. The ring is very simple-just a silver band with a pattern, but now that we are long distance, whenever I look at it, I think of him, and it matters.

when searching there are lots of answers. mostly about the meaning of a promise ring. though i feel as if it depends how serious the relationship is. since this ring signifies as almost a pre-engagement type of thing.
so it can get all mushy but you don't have to get down on one knee, unless you want to, you can just be in a nice area, romantic and whatnot, then you can ask.

these days a promise ring is not much, its not even worth the small stone, i say have him save up for the big ring when he is going to pop the q. the promise ring is just a way of saying i might marry you i might not. he can just say that with out the ring. but if he must he can give it to you by candle light and says few words about how he feels for you and then places it on your finger. nothing more then that. have fun enjoy your relationship that you have with him don't worry about the ring or the wedding it will come in time.

my fiance gave me a promise ring 3 years ago. he never said anything, he just gave me a small box and i opened it. it was during our first year anniversary. he just proposed to me a week ago and thats when he said those mushy words.
