Noone was ready for it. Noone estimated the extent of that power beforehand. German engineers were the best thing out there (which actually helped reconstruct Germany after the war). Nazis were too well organized for the french. The other countries were just out of the equation. The russian front was not strong enough because of ill equipment and nasty weather. The nazi army had really great equipment (panzer tanks, mitrailettes, ...)

Blitzkrieg. "Lightning War". Their tactics were brilliant and they had some of the best trained and most disciplined soldiers in the world at the time.
Better training, more discipline and a better quality man ALWAYS overcomes superior technology in warfare. Look at how the Russians defeated the Germans in World War II. The Russians had almost no weapons, no ammunition, were using potatoes instead of grenades, and were starving and freezing to death on the frontlines the whole time...but they WON! They were determined and disciplined and they loved their country and were willing to do anything to protect it from the Krauts.

The Nazis did not conquer Europe; they tried. They brainwashed the weak and terrorized people. Fortunately, the British might, US muscle and 20 million Russians showed the Nazis who's the boss.

Blitzkrieg and the level of their armaments. They had the most advanced weapons at the start of the war and partly thru it as well.
When they started the war, many armys were still using horses and little in the way of planes.
With France, they just went around the Maginou (sic) line.

It was the depression. People didn't care that much and many of the conquered nations wanted Germany to take over since it was so bad at that time. Racism was horrible in Eastern Europe and many nationalities wanted Hitler to destroy Russia. I was told Germany would of won if they weren't so racist. Slavs were volunteering in droves to help Germany destroy the Soviet Union.
Germany just refuse to use them.

The European countries failed to recognize the threat. Hitler spouted his terrorist threats well in advance of any attacks. It's true that the German army was incredibly powerful but they wouldn't have rolled all the way across Europe if people had taken a preemptive action to neutralize the threat. Sound familiar?

Blitzkrieg (lightening war)
It was a tactic so far ahead of its time that it simply took everybody off guard.
It was pure brilliance, copied and adapted by Schwartzkoff and Franks in both Iraq wars.
