Beliefs are generally evangelical protestant, and they are congregational. You need to make a profession of faith to be considered 'saved'. You must then be baptized to become a member of the church. You don't need to be a member of the church to be considered 'saved'.

Sprung from the English Separatist movement back in the 1600's. Holds orthodox Christian beliefs.

With so many using the name who are not I doubt any one knows.... strictly the Baptists are those who never bowed to The Roman cult. So I guess any who are not of the Roman cult or Protestant might claim to be... so long as they have come to God in The way He prescribes first..... I am a member of a small concervative Baptist Congrigation... But I came to God before God led me to the congrigation I am now part of... In truth there is only One Church. The Church of which Jesus The Christ is The Head... God is not concerned with denominations

I know of Northern Baptist, Southern Baptist, American Baptist, Missionary Baptist and Anti-Baptist. Most are founded in US except Anti-Baptist which, I believe are German.

Last I knew there were 52 different kind.
Sorry I can't name them.

There are 6 different kinds of Catholics, can't name but the big one Roman.

& different kinds of Penticostals, maybe more.
