I really recommend Samui Island. Can be flown from Bangkok in about an hour. Nice isolated island with nice beach and sea.

Now that there is a Tsunami early warning system in place all beaches are relativly safe. The biggest risks to your own personal
safety involve picking up harmful shells some of which have fatal stings. Sea unchins in shallow area's also pose a slight safely risk although they are easy to spot and rare.

Theft to swimmers who leave there valuables on the beach is rare althought its best to leave essential documents in hotel safety deposite boxes.

Quiet beaches are usually off the beaten tracks. I would look for places arround Krabbi and Kho Lanta. Its best to avoid Pattaya if you are not interested in the naughty nightlife.

Thailand is very cheap for cost of living unless your looking for the 5* market.
Koh Samui is good and safe but Koh Tao is quieter and a centre for diving holidays. Both are accessible by ferry and coach.

if you need the island which near from Bangkok, I could recommend Koh Samed in Rayong.
Price not so high and many choice you can choose
you can take a bus (300 baht/round trip), rent a car (various price) or hire a taxi (2000 baht/way) to go there but it takes around 3 hours then you have to take a ferry (100 baht/round trip) for 45 mins.
But the annoying thing is you have to pay for entry of national park for foreigner 400 baht.

Laem singh on Phuket, best beach on the island, unspoilt, quiet, the locals choice, no jet skies, HEAVEN. If you venture down to Phuket try this one! fairly inexspensive to get too. A taxi from Patong should cost about 125-140b. We normally get a taxi to drop us off and pick us up for 300b.

you have a Slathering sales area for inner maximum instructions, with a printed tariff offering a variety of unctuous ingredients (e.g. lotion, whipped cream, jelly, airborne dirt and dust, etc.), decision of utility (i.e. slapped on via hand, unfold with the decrease back of wood a spoon, etc.), decision of musical accompaniment (e.g. l. a. Cucaracha, Je t'aime, etc.) etc. I see you having the flexibility to surrender your day activity and retire to Florida interior of approximately 3 months.
