Drag a plastic worm along the bottom. Don't lift it up and let it fall like for bass, just drag it.

They are also know as mudfish and my personal favorite, cypress trout.

Now a question for you. Why do you want to catch them?

Minnows, worms, leeches, frogs, and many other things. Just some bait on a hook below a bobber with some weight should work just fine. You can also go without a bobber, and fish on bottom. Use a size six or bigger hook. Nothing fancy required. If you use a frog, kill it and squeeze the air from it so it sinks. Leopard frogs are best.

I use red devil spoons for lures and large minnows as live bait.
