For many people I would say YES. They have forgotten what real food tastes like. Why do you think so many kids won't eat vegetables? Because from the time they can eat solid foods mom and dad are at the drive thru at McDonalds or Burger King and it warps their taste buds! Fresh veggies are so delicious!
Also, cooking is an art form (for the most part) and those of us who love to cook are just plain misunderstood, we see an empty plate like an empty canvas to a painter or a block of clay to a sculptor. Food (real food) is a very erotic experience and the aromas coming together to blend as you cook is truely wonderful. Even something simple like my home made chicken noodle soup the other day....Organic veggies, chicken, home made egg noodles and lots of love and a few spices. UMMMMM
NO canned soup or frozen for that matters could ever come close to that. Or home made bread??? That is an orgasmal (if thats a word) experience. Home made fresh from the oven garlic beer bread (my specialty) I can almost taste it now.
Children who dont grow up with these experiences I feel sorry for, their lives lack this wonderful part of childhood, home made food when they come home from school, especially home made cookies to share with their friends!!!!!!

I believe that there is some truth in what you say. However, as long as there are people who are willing to try new things and be adventuresome the culinary arts will never be destroyed. I know that I enjoy a hamburger from time to time it is a casual meal. When I am in the mood for good food I look to restaurants to fulfill my hunger, it is my way of getting dressed up and enjoying a night out with who ever it may be. There should be no worries about whether the culinary arts are fading out of existence, keep on frequenting bistros and restaurants and they should be fine.

I personally think that our fast paced lifestyles have helped to contribute to the destruction of many many things. In terms of food prep, many people no longer want to take the time to make a meal. It has become much easier to simply purchase "take-out" or one of those "instant" meals you can find in the grocer. In the past, sitting down to a meal together was one ritual that families enjoyed....and demanded. Today, busy schedules inhibit this ritual and family's are compensating by eating on the run. This has also helped result in the demise of some pretty solid family values. Many people are now taking classes to learn the basic art of preparing meals....its not that fast food has destroyed the culinary arts, its simply that people don't want to be bothered.

I think so...they put so much into food these days, its ridiculous! I have made a choice not to eat fast food anymore....trying to be more healthy....... Besides, I love being at home and cooking a wonderful meal......nothing like it in the world!
PS, I have some friends that say that food even taste better over seas (Europe, etc) then USA. SO I believe "they" are putting something in the food, for sure.

Not in my house. We despise fast food. We cook and enjoy our own meals every night. I love walking the door every night after work and sniffing the air to see what culinary delight we will be enjoying. Fast food will be the death of many people, but not us.
