Apple Pudding
"A recipe that was handed down through the years from Mother to Daughter. It's just a simple and easy 'Apple Pudding' recipe. When you are in a hurry and have very few staples on hand, you may want to give this dessert a try. That is the basic recipe and good for the times of depression when extras are scarce. Serve either hot or cold. It is good plain but better with milk, cream, whipped cream or lemon sauce."
Original recipe yield: 1 - 9x9 inch dish.
INGREDIENTS:
6 tart apples - peeled, cored and thinly sliced
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup sugar
1 pinch salt
2 cups milk
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
Toss apples with flour, sugar and salt and place in a 9x9 inch baking dish. Pour enough milk into dish to come almost to the top of the apples, but not cover them.
Bake in preheated oven 45 minutes, until apples are tender. Serve warm.
Review: I added cinnamon and it turned out great.

Red Delicious, Granny Smith, Cox's Orange. Streusel is a mixture of brown sugar, white sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, flour, walnuts and butter. It is mixed until it had beads and then sprinkled on top of the pie before it goes in the oven. Years ago, Better Homes and Garden had a hellacious Streusel Apple pie and you had to place foil on top and let it bake for about an hour and a half and then remove the foil so that the streusel can brown. My favorite apple to use is Granny Smith.

I dont know what a struesel baked apple is But I have areally yummy baked apple recipe to share..
4 large good baking apples, such as Rome Beauty, Golden Delicious, or Jonagold (see cooking apple varieties)
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 cup chopped pecans
1/4 cup currants or chopped raisins
1 Tbsp butter
3/4 cup boiling water
1 Preheat oven to 375°F. Wash apples. Remove cores to 1/2 inch of the bottom of the apples. It helps if you have an apple corer, but if not, you can use a paring knife to cut out first the stem area, and then the core. Use a spoon to dig out the seeds. Make the holes about 3/4-inch to an inch wide.
2 In a small bowl, combine the sugar, cinnamon, currants/raisins, and pecans. Place apples in a 8-inch-by-8-inch square baking pan. Stuff each apple with this mixture. Top with a dot of butter (1/4 of the Tbps).
3 Add boiling water to the baking pan. Bake 30-40 minutes, until tender, but not mushy. Remove from the oven and baste the apples several times with the pan juices.
Serve warm with vanilla icecream on the side.

This is an easy one:
INGREDIENTS:
4 apples (Golden delicious or Jonagold apples works fine)
1 box gingerbread cake mix
100 g cold butter or margarine
METHOD:
Preheat oven to 200 degrees C.
Peel, core and slice the apples.
Put them in a greased, ovenproof dish.
Sprinkle 3 ½ dl of the dry cake mix in the apples.
Slice cold butter thinly all over the top.
Bake for about 20 minutes.
Serve with vanilla ice cream, vanilla sauce or whipped cream.
Streusel is a kind of topping. Another example:
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
2 tablespoons firmly packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/4 cup chopped walnuts
You crumble topping over apples and bake.

Vanilla ice cream is also my favorite way to eat apple pie! It's really good heated in the microwave too. if you don't have any ice cream ,just heat a slice of pie in the microwave and eat it warm. It's very good and tastes like it's fresh out of the oven. You could also top it with whipped cream or caramel syrup for ane extra sweet treat. Cinnamon sugar and a little butter melted over the top would be good as well.

My mom had a recipe that is similar to others here, she'd core the apples and take diced peaches (in their syrup) with brown sugar fill the cored section and put in a 350 degree oven for 25 to 30 minutes. The peach juice would slightly lower in the baking process and when she took them out and cooled them a bit, she'd put whipped cream on the top.
Oh, since we were a poor Navy family, she used any kind of apples that were on sale...they were all good.
