My boyfriend lost the title to his car, what does he do now? Also, he lost the title before he got the tags and registration, is that gonna make getting a new title impossible?

In order to get a new title, he must have the bill of sale that was given at time of purchase. If that doesn't work, he can always apply for a lost title at the dmv, the process is sometimes long, but you can retrieve a new title that way.

Titling of a vehicle may differ slightly from state to state in terms of the paperwork required and the fees involved. If you have lost the title to your vehicle, or suspect that it has been stolen, you will want to obtain a new title as soon as possible to avoid any possible complications. Please visit this page on Title Transfers (http://www.dmv.org/title-transfers.php) and select your state for more information.

Go down to Motor Vehicles and give them the VIN number and show ID. A new title costs about 8 bucks.

He'll have to file a lost title through the BMV. If anything he may have to provide a bill of sale to prove he owns the car.
