I know those are two major neutrals. So, I need a nice bolder color, I think. I'm not really into the seventies retro kind of stuff. I'm more traditional. Unfortunately, I live in an apt. so, I am not allowed to change the wall color and can't afford to change the carpet.

I would choose sunset colors. Sunsets combine unlikely colors, some bright, some dim.

Browse through some catalogues of sunsets. Notice the ratio of yellow to blue, of orange to purple, and take your cue. A sliver of silver blue that threads its way through a vibrant red sunset can be reflected in a silver blue runner throw over a rust colored sofa, or in faded beach glass that is arranged on a burgundy colored plate.

Have fun.

Cream Colored Walls

Personally, I would go with green or tourquoise. Then I would get some materials for throw pillows, upholstery or valances to bring them all together. If you go with the green, some real plants around always gives a soothing effect.

Don't change the carpet if it's not yours, even if you have the money. I would love to have brown carpet. Mine is almost white, and shows the traffice patterns too much.

How about a deep, brick colored red? Burnt orange? Sage. Eggplant.

Go shopping in the paint chip aisle at Home Depot and bring home some samples. What color is you other stuff?

now days, red is a very big color....it goes relly good with neutral colors like brown...if you have a neutral colored couch, throw some red pillows and red blankets on it and like red lamps...or orange or yellow, but with brown and cream, i would definately go with fire engine red...i know some of the other ppl that answered your question thinks that a lot of different colors would look good, but i would only go with one...it is like a BANG..where did that come from...lol...it stands out more and is more noticable

I think burgundy, light green or dark blue would go good with the dark brown and cream color walls....
