I drove 3 hours there and back to the Ford dealer in Las Vegas(none in Pahrump, NV). I called them and they said, come back again, but we just installed a fuzeable link and it's probably not our problem and we'll charge you to fix your "new" problem. Not good.

What can I check to get the speed control working again?

Take it back, explain to them that it worked before they fixed it, and you aren't paying them to fix it again. If they have a problem with that threaten to file a complaint with the attorney generals office. Recalls and warranty work are supposed to be free.

If all they did was install a new fusible link (which would probably be an underhood item), they probably had no reason to actually road test the vehicle to ensure the cruise control worked. They probably only verified that the dashboard light came on when they turned the cruise control on. So, in a way, it's your word against theirs as far as that it really functioned before you brought it in. I'd call Ford's regional office and complain to them, though. That office will probably end up reimbursing the dealership for fixing the problem (knowing that the good will engendered by it will pay off in good word-of-mouth advertising.)

Look in the back of your owner's manual and you'll find a 1-800 number for customer service in Detroit. Give them a call and tell them the details and see what they have to say about it. They may have blown a fuse or disconnected a vacuum line while installing the link.
