What make U.S.A. so popular and successful in international Karate Championship?

Last few years,Karate in U.S.A. became one of the best teams in Pan America and even in the world's stage,though not in Finland 2006,but you can tell they have a bright future.My question is how and what make them so successful ?

as a sport it is popular. add to that the fact that the USA has a huge population base with which to draw its athletes from. marketing may be more aggressive in the US, so more people may take it up.
