My favorite is "Dogma."
What's yours and why?

Paladin -- thanks for mentioning "Inherit the Wind" -- I have to put it at number two!
Especially amazing is Gene Kelly's performance, dancing with words instead of in the literal sense.
BTW, in case you guys did not know, Peter Gabriel did the music for "Last Temptation of Christ", based on African and Middle Eastern tribal music and rhythms.

The Ten Commandments (1956). Yeah, I know its effects are dated and the dialogue is extremely cheesy. "I will DWELL in this land!" But I love it.
Second best: Inherit the Wind (1960). "An idea is a greater monument than a cathedral. And the advance of man's knowledge is a greater miracle than all the sticks turned to snakes or the parting of the waters."
Third best: Equus (1977). "I only know that he was my little Alan...and then the devil came."
And since I've already cheated and named more than one, here are a few more that should get nods: Elmer Gantry (1960), Lilies of the Field (1963), and The Mission (1986).

For me its Last Temptation because of the music and dafoe and the 45 minutes at the end where Jesus didn't die, but also I do like 10 Commandments with Heston because of his growth as a charachter, while I don't believe he met with god as a burning bush, there is something about a man coming down from a mountain transformed and willing to stand up to authority figures, when just moments before he was cowardly afraid of the task.
