Yes... it makes me angry. Especially when I hear them spew crap about how abortion is murder, but its ok to kill dogs and abandon them like garbage because they are just not as good as humans. I had to go on welfare for a while and I had a religious nut at the office tell me that I should get rid of my dogs and cats because they wouldnt be giving me any extra money to feed them. I asked her if she told people with human children the same thing and she looked shocked, I said well to me they are just as much a part of my family as any human is.. they may not be human but they are living breathing creatures that I made a commitment to care for their entire lives. I told her I would starve if I had to just so I could feed them. She was pissy about the whole thing and actually got mad when I said we are all animals.. she said Humans arent animals, we may have been before but we arent now.. what an ignorant statement from an ignorant idiot. I hate how religion tries to promote that humans are better than eveerything else living on this planet and that we are so much better than mere "animals" to bad they havent picked up a scientific classification book lately to see we humans are all classified under Kingdom Animalia, right with the rest of the animals. Not to mention how narrow-minded, egotistical and self-centered they are because their religion tells them that humans are better than everything else because of god.. what a load of crap!

Of course. That's one of the most defining characteristics of religion, and a key to understanding both its historical origins and its modern incarnations. People care about people. It makes sense for their values and mythologies to be anthropocentric.
