If there is a God, why doesn't God come down to earth and tell us that we need to worship God?

Don't give me some reason like, "It's written in the bible" or "Muhammed says,....".

Paul Simon sang in one of his songs "faith is an island in the setting sun, Proof is the bottom line for everyone." Well, I need proof that.....

1) God exists.
2) God wants me to worship her.
3) Worshipping this God character is worth my time.

Like you're going to get a satisfactory answer.

You'll get:

A) A lot of religious imbeciles puking up ill-digested theological claptrap about how "God reveals the Truth in the bible," etc, which will obviously only appeal to people who have surrendered their reason utterly and irretrievably to Christian brainwashing, and

B) A lot of atheists telling you God doesn't exist - even as a female.

What you want is "certainty, not faith." Which sounds like "gnosticism." Do some reading, avoiding orthodox theological and "New Age" authors like the plague. "Prove all things; hold fast that which is good," said ("Saint") Paul in his gnostic mood. Try some Elaine Pagels - she's probably right up your alley.

Here is your proof as best as you are going to get it.

1) Look around you for proof. How else can you explain life and consciousness

2) God wants you to be happy. You are granted this happiness when you worship God.

3) How does eternal damnation sound? Is 1 hour per week in church really too much to ask? Or even 1 hour per week watching a religious channel on TV. You've got nothing to lose by worshipping God, but everything to lose if you dont. Your choice, you'll find out when your dead if you made the right one

I should also say, if you had proof, it wouldnt be called faith, would it? If you had proof, you would have no choice but to worship God, in essence it would take away your free will which is a gift God gave you.

1) It is pretty easy to prove that God exists through the science of intelligent design - see the first link below.
2) Now that we have proved that God exists, would it not make sense that God would want (perhaps demand) to be worshiped?
3) Like everything else, the only way to find out if it is worth your time is to give it a try. See the last link below. Do you have the guts?

If I had the proof for you I would give it to you as I am sure many would. No one can prove those three things to you...its something you have to do for yourself.

I Am A Rock
Simon and Garfunkel

(Music & Lyrics : Paul Simon)

A winter's day
In a deep and dark
December;
I am alone,
Gazing from my window to the streets below
On a freshly fallen silent shroud of snow.
I am a rock,
I am an island.

I've built walls,
A fortress deep and mighty,
That none may penetrate.
I have no need of friendship; friendship causes pain.
It's laughter and it's loving I disdain.
I am a rock,
I am an island.

Don't talk of love,
But I've heard the words before;
It's sleeping in my memory.
I won't disturb the slumber of feelings that have died.
If I never loved I never would have cried.
I am a rock,
I am an island.

I have my books
And my poetry to protect me;
I am shielded in my armor,
Hiding in my room, safe within my womb.
I touch no one and no one touches me.
I am a rock,
I am an island.

And a rock feels no pain;
And an island never cries.

There's a precursor of your question in the writings of Clarence Darrow. He said something like this:

If there really is a god, how come he doesn't make himself clear by some unmistakeable miracle? After all, the dude is supposed to able to stop the Sun from crossing the sky, and part the waters of the sea, and create stuff by saying words. Would he really leave his "revelation" to a bunch of ambiguous writings in a book written by fallible humans in an era of ignorance?

But there's a modern take on Clarence Darrow's question, which comes from science fiction. If there really is a god with a message for mankind, surely with his infinite powers he could interrupt all the world's television broadcasts at prime time to break in and announce - Behold I am the Lawd thy Gawd and I say unto thee thou shalt repent etc. etc.

Well, God does tell us that he wants us to worship him in our being by the void that can never be filled with anything else. There is a space in every heart that can only be filled with a relationship with God. God has planted eternity in all of us when he created us, which is the desire for something beyond our lives on earth. As part of achieving eternity we have to know and worship God or we will never get there, not to the eternity our hearts desire anyway. This is the best answer I can give you without scripture.

10 Commandments, for one.

Oh, I know: You need, but you deny biblical responses.

Well, since you don't mind Paul Simon quotes, how about this:
Because you cannot walk with the holy, if you're just a halfway decent man / I don't pretend that I'm a mastermind with a genius marketing plan / I'm trying to tap into some wisdom, even a little drop will do / I want to rid my heart of envy and cleanse my soul of rage before I'm through"—from "Wartime Prayers"

God has come down many times and revealed himself to mankind but we refuse to listen. We lack faith like the people that deny Scripture.

For God to reveal himself to you, you need to have faith and start developing a prayer life and ask what you can do in your life to serve him. The answers start coming with faith and he will even do miracles and answer your prayers. BUT, you have to be able to accept his word and have faith that he will do what is right. And if you dont think that he has sent Scripture to you in the form of the Bible, then youre just rejecting his word and trying to serve him on your own selfish terms.

Arthur... knock it off. Why would a god need to have a sex at all? They're a god.

And no one can give you the proof you seek. They'll just spout off about the bible like they usually do because they have nothing else.

The reason you don't get told any of that by a god is because there is no god.
