The way I understand it, technically, no you can't. The broth is still made from meat.
But here's how I see it - if you don't have a choice (dinner at a friend's house) or for whatever reason don't have access to vegtable broth and you are really trying to simplify, I don't think it's that bad. You aren't eating the flesh of the chicken, after all.
My opinion - avoid it if you can, but if that is the only "meat" in your meal, then it's fine. It's supposed to be about the SPIRIT of the sacrifice more than the rules and regulations. Going out for a dinner of lobster and risotto with a nice glass of pinot gris fits the rules but isn't, to me, a sacrifice.

Absolutely you can -- your "fast" is between you and God. What the heck - throw some chicken in there, too. The original RC abstinance from meat during Lent was red meat anyway, so chicken doesn't count IMHO.

The standard is fish, eggs, cheese. If your not sure and happen to have something made from meat or meat product, don't sweat it if you didn't know but, the idea isn't to see how much you can get away with, it is to give something up totally. It is a small sacrifice we can do.

Why r u abstaining? Lent is a man made thng. No where in the bible, spec the NT does it say u have to abstain from meat. You are being mislead bythe catholic church. Check it out yourself.

its still chicken, cheater.
Doesnt matter, i think of lent as a BS thing because really, nobody can fast for 40 days and forty nights and not die from it, that includes Jesus. Average human can last 10 -14 days without food, after that the body eats away at itself.
