When Christians attribute all kinds of evil acts and thoughts to God, aren't they slandering His good name whether they mean to or not? For example, when they say he ordered the deaths of innocent children in the Book of Joshua, or when they say He'll send decent people to Hell just because they weren't able to believe the story of Adam and Eve... If I were God, I'd be mighty pissed off at the way they've characterised Me! Aren't the Christians worried about what God is going to do to them when He shows up?

Well first of all it is unbelievers that are completely irreverant towards God. We on the other hand completely love and respect him and follow him.

With that being said, your objections to what we say are taught in Scripture, they arent just silly rumors and things we think God did. With the children of the evil nations in the Book of Joshua, God is able to see peoples lives before they lived it. Therefore is God has ordered that a child be killed, it was recieving justice based on the life it would have led. Is God so small in your eyes that he cant see into the future?

People are going to go to hell first and formost because of their evil, their sins, their attitude toward God, their attitude towards his children (believers) their attitude toward the church, and yes their attitude toward Scripture. Scripture are Gods words and if you do not have faith in what hes wrote, how much faith do you have in him?

I would be more worried about what God is going to do to unbelievers rather than worry about believers. We are forgiven by the blood of Jesus for our sins and we do our best to repent and stear clear of Gods wrath. How bout you?

"When Christians attribute all kinds of evil acts and thoughts to God, aren't they slandering His good name whether they mean to or not?"
The scriptures say what they say, if you need help in understand ing it, you might consider a concordance in order to read it from the Hebrew in the Old Testament, or Greek in the New Testament. We miss certain things when we don't.

One of those things that we get the meaning wrong of is that God does evil things. He doesn't. He does great things- terrible, but great. That's why it is written, " The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom."

". . . or when they say He'll send decent people to Hell just because they weren't able to believe the story of Adam and Eve... "

The Adam and Eve story is:
1) A lot easier to believe than the resurrection story.
2) Not the basis for Christian salvation.
3) The basis for Christian faith is believing that the Lord Jesus died for your sins, and rose again. His promise is that we will rise as well.

What God was showing in the Old Testament is Ownership. He owns you, and he owns me. The difference between you and me, or at least one of those differences, is that I recognize my owner, and you don't.

So, since you are not God, and your actions are actually antigod, you may take it for granted that you haven't figured him out yet.

Good luck with that.

Yes, but we usually attribute our own characteristics to others. God understands this, and people who do not understand him, cannot insult him. You may find it interesting to read the concept of "Rational Spirituality" available on the Dhaxem website. There you will find a different account of God.
