Just ask him, but in a nice way! It could be nothing or for a health problem he's not told you about. If there's only one it could be something illegal but you don't know that - listen to him and talk it through what ever he says (if he says anything!) - be patient, not angry and he'll be more likely to talk - sounds like you know that all ready though, caring enough to ask for help I'm sure you must be a great mum xxx

Not knowing its direct shape and size, I would say it is one of two likelihoods. A handful of antibiotics like metradinazole and erythromycin use that pill shape. Also, certain anti-viral medications are in that shape as well. In which case, it may simply be that he has gotten a pill from someone who thought it would "get them high," when in reality the prior owner probably got it for a staph infection or some other illness.
Secondly however, it could also be a CNS depressant called Clonazepam. If this is the case, this is a dangerous controlled substance and you should attempt to discern whether or not there are any more in the house.
Regardless of whatever you read here, you should IMMEDIATELY contact a poison control center, and give them a COMPLETE description of the pill's shape, imprints and color. They will be able to tell you exactly what it is, and whether or not your son is in any danger.
No matter what, no prescription medication should ever be taken, even antibiotics, without the expressed guidance and dosage provided by a doctor.

take it to your local pharmacy - you wont get in trouble if its a street drug if you explain that you found it and want to know what it is - give him a chance to tell you what it is first so he doesnt feel like you are working against him or that you assume its something horrible. if it is a street drug, the fact that he still has it and hasnt taken it may be a sign that he was in an awkward situation and took it, but is smart enough not to actuallly eat it. its hard to be a kid these days - if he knows you trust him to make good decisions, then he will be more likely to admit when he occasionally makes a bad one. every decision is a learning process. good luck.

I don't want to state the obvious but instead of speculating and and getting yourself worried why not ask your son what it is.
He might surprise you and give you an honest answer especially if the tablet is something innocent.
He will probably be more annoyed that you were in his room in the first place.

Take it to a pharmacist and say you found it and want to know what it is.
Or if you really want to frighten your son if he is on drugs get the police to take a look at him,
the pill could be anything. Ecstasy comes to mind but really you should get this identified.
Do you have a local drugs help-line at all? might be worth calling them and saying what you have found.
has your son given you reason to suspect drug use?

Erythomycin-333 (antiobiotic like Penicillin) most likely. Ask your local pharmacist to be sure -- they have a guide that describes trade names and markings on tablets.

Call your pharmacist or your doctor first and get informed before you approch your son with the subject. You want to know more than he does about it?
Don't let him get away with it. Instead of giving him just a lecture about drugs, educate him and find out together about the effect of the drug on his brain.
Good luck.
